Sell the Detroit Pistons – It’s time to back the Pistons, right? They’re finally getting healthy and have a full compliment of players for the first time this season. The laundry list of injured players in the first half of the campaign is long, including Ben Gordon, Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince. However, even in a return to full strength, they are a long shot to make the postseason and an even longer one of seeing first-year head coach John Kuester back for another campaign. The Pistons have seemingly already given up on Kuester, but the blame should really be on themselves. And this isn’t anything new as they all contributed to the departure of the last two head coaches, Flip Saunders and Michael Curry. Perhaps some blame should be placed on general manager Joe Dumars who has done little right of late. The offseason signings of Gordon and Charlie Villanueva are two of his latest blunders. They’ve tried to transition into more of an offensive-minded team with little return in terms of results. In watching them play, it’s indefensible how often they’ll run their offense for 20 seconds and still fail to get a high percentage look at the rim. With serviceable offensive players, it’s clear that chemistry may be a real issue with this squad. One would expect plenty of player movement from this team as the trade deadline approaches. Keep on fading this team.
