Last week, the squares and general public had a very tough week, and this week was no different. This makes two Saturdays in a row where many of my small players have not won anything, something that doesn't happen very often. They were the key for me having a winning weekend, as the sharp players split for the weekend.
The biggest bet on Saturday was also one that I really liked: Washington State plus the points against UCLA. I bet it early in the week at +6, then watched the line drop all week. On Saturday, it fell from +5 to +3.5 at most places, but I had it at UCLA -3 early in the day to attract some UCLA action and not take as much Washington State as everyone else seemed to be. Washington State lost the game by three in overtime after leading 21-0 early.
Texas was bet from -17.5 to -15 on Saturday morning, but the Longhorns covered easily against Colorado. Purdue, Toledo, Florida International and OVER in the BYU/Colorado State game were also losers for the sharp players. They were 6-5 on the day by my count, with the winners being on Wisconsin, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Washington State and Nevada.
The public and squares went down in flames with the favorites again on Saturday. Georgia's 17-point victory against Vanderbilt as a 16-point favorite was their only winning result.
They also laid the points with Alabama, Michigan, Miami (FL), USC and Houston, all of which fell short of covering. I had bet on Saturday as well, with Alabama and USC ruining a few teasers.
Sunday's NFL games saw the sharp players go 3-3 on the day. Their biggest play was on Carolina, which opened at -1 and closed at -2.5 at Detroit. With the Panthers winning by just one, most of the action was a loser at -1.5 or -2. The public jumped in with both feet on the Panthers as well at -2.5, making this the biggest winning game of the weekend for me.
Other sharp plays on Sunday were losers on Miami and Seattle UNDER and winners on the New York Giants, Denver and Tennessee OVER. Aside from the Carolina game, the public was mostly split again. The other lopsided early game was the Falcons. Atlanta managed to kick a game-winning field goal, but the non-cover cost many square players on the day.

With most of my smaller players losing on Saturday and early on Sunday, Sunday's late games figured to be bet heavily, and that is exactly what happened. Of the three games, the action was split up for the most part, with Denver getting more action than any of the other five teams.
The Sunday night game was one-sided, with Seattle and the over being the bailout plays for most squares, and both sides won. That turned a great weekend into a good one.
