Two weekends ago was one of the better weekends I have had as a bookmaker, but the Monday night victory by Atlanta tempered it a little bit. It also breathed some life into some of my smaller square players, many of which were on the verge of going broke with all of the losing they have done recently.
Many sharp players also had poor weeks this week to make it another very good weekend for my operation.
On Saturday, the square players stuck with the favorites as usual, with Texas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin and Miami (FL) all being popular choices. Ohio State and Auburn were the only two winners that were common on many small player's cards for the day.
The sharp players were firing away as usual on Saturday, but won only 5 of 11 games. The biggest plays they made were on Western Michigan against Kent State, Kansas against Missouri and Washington against Arizona State, winning two of three. The sharp players were also on Texas A&M, which made their loss to Iowa State my most profitable game of the day. They also lost with Buffalo, Washington State, New Mexico State and Nevada. Their other winners were on Oklahoma, San Diego State and Maryland.
Sunday was terrible for just about every player I had. The square players came in with a winner on Oakland, but lost with Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Washington OVER and Cincinnati. They also went with New England in the Sunday night game bailout, but the Patriots came up short to make it a terrible weekend for most small players.
The sharp players were just as bad on Sunday, with only two winners on the day. They were right on the San Francisco upset of Tampa Bay and also won with Cleveland UNDER. The losers were numerous, as Washington was the most popular loser of the day. They also lost with Cleveland, Minnesota, Kansas City, Tennessee, Green Bay OVER and Washington OVER. Overall, I counted a 2-7 record for the sharp players on their most popular plays.
Some of them also had New England on Sunday night as I left the number at 9 when it went to 9.5 and 10 at most places. I liked Buffalo in the game, and decided to gamble a little bit since the week had gone so well to that point. It worked out and the Patriots’ struggles ended what turned out to be a very profitable weekend for me.
