NBA Playoff Betting Update: Teams are gassed and games continue to go under the total

UPDATE

Last night's Rockets-Warriors game, while competitive, certainly wasn't aesthetically pleasing. Between the fouls being and not being called, an overabundance of isolation plays, an overabundance of contested threes that didn't go in, and turnovers are the most inopportune times, it's easy to understand why neither team cracked the century mark. That's now back-to-back bloodbaths and oddsmakers are left with little option but to adjust their totals even more. Game 4 closed 227. Game 5 closed 219.5. Game 6 opened 213.5. And this year's "trend" of playoff games with one day rest and travel is now 6-12 O/U. Tonight's Boston-Cleveland game qualifies and so does Saturday's Rockets-Warriors Game 6.

4/19: New Orleans vs. Portland Game 3 - OVER 215.5
4/20: Indiana vs. Cleveland Game 3 - UNDER 209
4/24: Boston vs. Milwaukee Game 5 - UNDER 202.5
4/24: Golden State vs. San Antonio Game 5 - UNDER 204.5
4/25: Houston vs. Minnesota Game 5 - OVER 217
4/25: Oklahoma City vs. Utah Game 5 - UNDER 207.5

NBA Playoff Betting News: Oddsmakers make big adjustment to total for Game 5

05.23.2018     09:26 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Looks like oddsmakers really adjusted their numbers off of Houston's low scoring 95-92 win last night. Game 4's total closed 227.5 at CRIS. Game 5's total opened 219. That's six points lower than any of the seven previous regular and postseason meetings.

Regular Season
10/17: Houston 122, Golden State 121 - OVER 230.5
1/4: Golden State 124, Houston 114 - OVER 231
1/20: Houston 116, Golden State 108 - UNDER 237.5

Playoffs
5/14: Golden State 119, Houston 106 - UNDER 225.5
5/16: Houston 127, Golden State 105 - OVER 225
5/20: Golden State 126, Houston 85 - UNDER 226.5
5/22: Houston 95, Golden State 92 - UNDER 227.5

Las Vegas' Golden Nugget not taking any action on the Warriors-Rocket series

05.15.2018     09:14 AM     Printer Friendly
Billionaire Tilman Fertitta owns the Houston Rockets and also Golden Nugget Casino. Owning stake in a casino and professional sports franchise can be considered an obvious conflict of interest. As a result, the Golden Nugget has decided to pay out any Western Conference futures wagers on the Golden State Warriors. Bettors are also unable to wager on any individual games.

"We've already graded [the Warriors] a winner," Golden Nugget sportsbook manager Aaron Kessler said. "Bring your ticket and you'll get paid."

NBA Playoff Betting News: Houston Game 1 chalk, Golden State series favorite

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Unique situation for the upcoming NBA Western Conference Finals. The top seed Houston Rockets have taken money for Monday's Game 1; bet up from an opener of -1.5 to -2. But the Golden State Warriors have seen most of the action from a series price perspective. The Warriors opened as -180 series favorites and were bet up to -190. They opened -170 as Las Vegas' Westgate SuperBook but after a few bets were bumped up to -200.

Regular Season Meetings
1/20: Houston (+2.5) 118 vs. Golden State 108, UNDER 237.5
1/4: Golden State (-4) 124 at Houston 114, OVER 231
10/17: Houston (+9.5) 122 at Golden State 121, OVER 230.5

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Golden State's Steph Curry has been upgraded to questionable for Saturday's second round Game 1 matchup vs. New Orleans. Curry (knee) hasn't played since March 23. Including the first round, Curry has missed 26 games. In his absence, the Warriors went 21-15 SU, 14-22 ATS, and 14-21-1 O/U. When Curry played, Golden State posted an absurd 120.4 points per 100 possessions. The Warriors are currently an -8.5 home favorite for Game 1. The total is sitting at 223.5/224.

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Good article on the NBA's strength of schedule the remainder of the season. Despite playing in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors have the easiest remaining slate. The Washington Wizards, who according to ESPN's SOS have played the easiest schedule of any team in the league, will now face one of the toughest.

NBA Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Golden State Warriors at Milwaukee Bucks

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Golden State at Milwaukee +6.5 O/U 225
Recommendation: Milwaukee

Last year, here at the Bradley Center, the Bucks gave the Warriors everything they could handle, losing by only three points as a nine point home underdog. Two years ago, Jason Kidd’s squad pulled off the outright upset against Golden State on this floor, winning by 13 as nine point dogs. Clearly, Kidd and the Bucks get up for their only home game against the defending champs.

This year’s Milwaukee squad is better – much better – than recent editions. Giannis Antetokounmpo has morphed into a superstar. Point guard Eric Bledsoe has clearly sparked the offense. Kris Middleton is averaging more than 20 points per game. Malcolm Brogdon is continuing to develop off his ‘Rookie of the Year’ campaign in 2017.

The end result? Milwaukee’s offensive execution is as good as it’s been at any point in the Kidd era, and it’s getting better by the week. For the full season, Milwaukee ranks #7 in offensive efficiency. Since Christmas, they’re at #4 in the NBA. And that’s a problem for the disjointed Read more

NBA Betting News: Houston Rockets title odds drop to 15-1 following acquisition of Paul

06.29.2017     09:29 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
The odds on another Golden State-Cleveland NBA Finals are still ridiculously low (+140 at 5Dimes) but with Chris Paul headed to Houston, the Rockets are without question more of a "player." The Rockets began the summer at 30-1 to win the title according to Las Vegas' Westgate but have since dropped to 15-1.

"Since winning back-to-back championships [in 1994 and '95], the pursuit of a third title has remained the ultimate goal for our franchise," Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said in a statement. "We feel that combining two of the league's greatest players in James Harden and Chris Paul, operating in Coach [Mike] D'Antoni's system, gives us a championship-caliber team that will compete at the highest level for years to come."
