Air Force travel to Las Vegas for their final regular season game. The Falcons own the nation’s No. 2 rushing offense which should pose problems for a UNLV run defense that allows 212 rushing yards per game and over 5.0 yards per rush. But the Rebels picked up their second win of the season last week with a whipping of Wyoming 42-16 – a good sign that this team has some confidence and
hasn’t throw in the towel
under first-year coach Bobby Hauck.
Air Force (7-4) has beaten UNLV (2-8) each of the past three seasons, and their triple option attack has been difficult to defend. Free College Hoops Pick: Eastern Illinois at Loyola

Recommendation: Eastern Illinois
Two radically different starts to the season for both squads here at Loyola won its first three games rather handedly while Eastern Illinois looked dismal against South Dakota Sate and Ball State. For the Ramblers, they return virtually everyone from last season and while improvement was expected, I think this line is an overreaction to just a couple of games. Loyola was favored in only four games last season, the most of which was by a modest 6.5 points. Eastern Illinois meanwhile returns its core group and made strong strides at the end of last season by winning eight of its last nine. In terms of some line comparisons, EIU was +6.5 at Ball State, while Loyola was -4.5 against Eastern Kentucky. Heading into the season, EIU was actually picked to finish ahead of EKU and Ball State grades out as nearly identical to Loyola in terms of potential. Postseason hopes and shaky weather highlight Bruins vs. Huskies

Here are some news and notes for tonight's UCLA at Washington matchup. Both teams are still
technically in the postseason hunt
. The Bruins (4-5) would need to win two of three (at Washington, at Arizona State, vs. USC), while the Huskies need to win out (vs. UCLA, at California, at Washington State). Despite some injury concerns, Jake Locker has been cleared to play. UCLA's Rick Neuheisel referred to Locker's questionable early week status as "the biggest joke ever", while linebacker Rahim Moore claimed he would
"probably quit football"

CFB Betting Preview: Wisconsin Badgers at Michigan Wolverines

The Badgers look to hold serve in their quest for a BCS berth with a huge trip to Michigan. The Big Ten title is still up for grabs between Ohio State, Michigan State and Wisconsin. If all three teams win out it looks as if Wisconsin (No. 7 BCS) would garner the automatic bid ahead of the Buckeyes (No. 9 BCS) and the Spartans (No.12). It may be difficult for Ohio State to leapfrog the Badgers since Wisconsin won the head-to-head meeting. Next week the Badgers host Northwestern, who just last week lost their key cog, quarterback Dan Persa.
The Badgers certainly look like a team peaking at the right time with recent wins over Ohio State, Iowa and of course their 83-20 demolition of Indiana last weekend. Stalwart running back John Clay is doubtful this week, but the Badgers remain strong in the running game. They are on solid footing with James White and Montee Ball running behind a stout offensive

NFL Handicapping: Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots

Indianapolis +3.5 at New England O/U 50
Recommendation: Indianapolis
The 6-3 Colts face the 7-2 Patriots this week and for these teams to have those records is a tribute to their quarterbacks. Without the best two signal-callers in the game today, both would have losing records. The injury lists for these teams are extensive. Indianapolis has been without most of its offensive weaponary for much of the year. Tight end Dallas Clark is out for the season and running back Joseph Addai has missed three straight games. Clark’s replacement, Jacob Tamme, along with wide recovers Austin Collie and Blair White, plus Addai and his backup Mike Hart, are all listed as questionable this week. Linebackers Gary Brackett and Clint Session are listed as questionable while the secondary have five members on injured reserve, plus Bob Sanders, who has yet to play this season.

NFL Betting Trends: Oddsmakers helpless against high scoring games

A few weeks back,
NFL underdogs
were the talk of the town, but an even stronger trend is starting to develop and that is games landing over the total. Based on the closing lines, overs are a remarkable 84-59, 59% this season. Just last week, the over went 11-3. Oddsmakers have sighted that
various rules changes
over the last few years – most notably pass interference – have made it nearly impossible for defenses to keep the opposition out of the end zone on a consistent basis. Caesars Palace oddsmaker Todd Fuhrman pointed out that the primetime games on Sunday and Monday nights in particular all seemingly fly over the total. Eleven games for this week's slate are currently totaled at 44 or higher.

Online Gaming E-Gaming Review: Power 50

Years ago in the pre-UIGEA era I subscribed to a trade publication called E-Gaming Review. It is a slick publication with some pretty good info. Previously they focused much more on the US market, but now cover the European and Asian markets with much more intensity. Each year they present a Power 50 that ranks the online betting companies.
This year a pair of U.S. based poker sites, PokerStars and Full Tilt enter the mix. Additionally privately held Harrah's makes the list despite having no operational on-line platform in the United States. The article is interesting and certainly worthy of a read.

Cleveland Cavs success hinges on pass-first mentality

The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a respectable 5-5 start to the season. So far, they’ve been pretty formulaic in that their straight up with have resulted in pointspread covers while straight losses resulted in ATS failures. One of the key factors in the Cavs' play of late has been a focus on
distributing the basketball
, something that head coach Byron Scott has preached to his team. It is also a much different philosophy than last season where much of the offense was predicated on four guys watching LeBron James try to create a play. Clevland's upcoming schedule gets much more difficult with road games against Orlando, New Orleans and San Antonio over the next week.
“The last couple of days we have been talking about our offense and really getting the ball moving,” said head coach Byron Scott. “With 28 assists, our guys did a heck of a job trusting each other.”

San Diego State (7-3) put up a nice fight last week at No. 3 TCU, scoring touchdowns early and late in a 40-35 loss. That easy cover (+27) was part of our college card as we’ve cashed many tickets with San Diego State this season. The Aztecs have been one of the nation’s biggest movers in power ratings, as the rapid improvement has resulted in a Saturday line that is approximately 10 points lower than what it would have been had this game been played in Week 1.

Sports radio host taken down in gambling ring

A Hartford, Conn. sports radio show host was
one of 13 people recently arrested
in connection with an illegal sports betting ring. Police reportedly seized a Ferrari, Mercedes Benz and other "expensive items". Those arrested face a slew of charges, including corrupt organization and racketeering.
