Cantor Gaming signed a deal to run
The Palms' sportsbook
which will begin renovations following the college basketball season. The new venue is expected to open by the start of the 2012 football season. Cantor's mobile in-game wagering will be offered.
"We look forward to transforming the race and sports book into a formidable space that encompasses exquisitely stylish designs and the latest mobile gaming technology, complementing the rest of the property," Cantor Gaming President and Chief Executive Officer Lee Amaitis said in the news release.

with a knee injury. Abromaitis was suspended for Notre Dame's first four games and played in only two games so the team should be somewhat adjusted to not having him on the court. The Irish didn't look very sharp in their 29-point loss to Missouri and 4-point loss as favorites to Georgia (Abromaitis played in both games). In those two tilts and against Detroit – Notre Dame's only real competition – the offense produced scores of 59, 58 and 57. Tonight they travel to Gonzaga who opened as a 10-point favorite but bet up to -11.5. The Irish will also face Maryland and Indiana before starting Big East play.

College Football Handicapping: Teams potentially playing for exercise

The final week of the college football regular season and we take a look at those teams in "playing for exercise" situations. Note that final games (especially at home) can sometimes provide a boost in effort. Also factor in the inflated pointspreads with many of these games projected to be significant mismatches.
UNLV +38.5 at TCU
- The Rebels have been halfway competitive at home with wins over Colorado State and Hawaii. They also were tied with San Diego State last week in the third quarter only to allowed 17 unanswered points and miss out on the pointspread cover (+16.5). But back on the road however, where they are on an 11-37 ATS run, it is hard to imagine much of an effort. TCU can clinch the Mountain West title with a win so the Horned Frogs will be at least somewhat motivated. TCU has won the last three games in the series by scores of 48-6, 41-0 and 44-14.

The top Week 12 offensive performances in victory included the Saints (577 yards, 8.4 yards per play), Patriots (477, 6.4), Redskins (416, 6.4) and Bengals (389, 6.0). Poor offensive performances in defeat included the 49ers (170, 3.1), Vikings (226, 4.3), Seahawks (250, 4.0), Chiefs (252, 4.0), Jaguars (255, 3.6), Rams (272, 4.9) and Browns (274, 4.2). The Redskins finally snapped a seven-game losing streak and rushed for 110 yards after running for 69, 61, 52, 26, 92 and 42 yards the previous six games.
Teams that rushed for 150 or more yards went 5-1 SU and 5-1 ATS. Teams that rush for at least 150 yards and outrush their opponent cover the pointspread 77% of the time, while teams that rush for 175 yards or more are 35-5 SU and 32-7-1 ATS (82%). Being able to handicap and project which teams will have a meaningful rushing advantage (say, 30 or more yards) will lead you to more pointspread winners, as teams with that type of advantage cover the pointspread approximately 75% of the time historically, and 76% of the time thus far this season (I have a data base for over 10 years to prove it).

It is going to be a rough season for Northern Arizona. Not only did the Lumberjacks lose all-everything Cameron Jones (20.1 ppg), but also his wingman, returning starter Gabe Rodgers (13.0 ppg, 46.8 3-point), who has yet to play this season with a shoulder injury. Add in Eric Platt (10.1 ppg, 46.0% 3-point) and Shane Johannsen (9.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg) and all the Lumberjacks are left with is starting point guard Stallon Saldivar – the team's last scoring option last season. as first-year head coach Mike Anderson has being using multiple freshmen to fill his rotation. The first-year players have carried much of the load through five games but the competition will stiffen starting Saturday with a road trip to UConn followed by another road game at Oklahoma. But before the Razorbacks start prepping for the Huskies, they must first get past non-boarded Mississippi Valley State tonight in Fayetteville. The Delta Devils reportedly start five seniors and have already hung with the likes of Notre Dame (lost by 13), De Paul (lost by 10) and South Carolina (lost by 4). It will be interesting to see if Anderson's continues to employ his "40 Minutes of Hell" philosophy with such a limited about of depth and experience.

Yeah, it's the NFL, were parity thrives, but we were a bit shocked to see that since 1991, only
nine teams
have been favored by 20 or more points in a game. In fact, from 1994 to 2006, no team was favored by that amount. During New England's 16-0 regular season in 2007, they were big chalk on four occasions (0-4 ATS). Overall, teams laying -20 or more are 9-0 SU but only 2-7 ATS. Sounds like a reason to take +20.5 with Indy this weekend at New England, right? Absolutely! Give us quarterback

and surprisingly the sportsbooks didn't win. Some dude who bet $100 on the
infamous USC-Utah game
complained to the Nevada Gaming Control Board about not being able to cash his 2nd half ticket on the Trojans. Last week he got a check in the mail for $200.
