Arizona Bowl Betting Preview: South Alabama Jaguars vs. Air Force Falcons

South Alabama vs. Air Force
Arizona Bowl - Tucson
Friday, 2:30 pm PT
CRIS Opener:
Air Force -12.5 O/U 57.5
CRIS Current: Air Force -13.5 O/U 58
Recommendation: Over

Air Force’s the triple option offense closed the regular season hitting on all cylinders as it averaged 366.6 ypg on the ground during a five-game winning streak. South Alabama’s offense enjoyed similar late season success. Over the Jaguars’ last four games, the offense averaged 224.8 ypg on the ground and 259.8 ypg through the air. In looking at this matchup, both offenses should maintain their current form in what has the potential to be a high-scoring affair.

One interesting dynamic to this handicap is the health and status of Air Force quarterback Nate Romine who remains listed as questionable. I mentioned earlier how potent the Falcons’ offense had been during their five-game win streak. Well, much of the damage was courtesy of backup Arion Worthman who as a sophomore appears to the be the future of the AFA offense. Regardless of who starts, both quarterbacks are capable of making the offense hum, Read more

NFL Handicapping: New England says it won't rest starters vs. Miami

12.29.2016     09:33 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
The New England Patriots aren't expected to rest any key players for Sunday's Week 17 game at Miami. The Pats need to win to ensure the AFC's top seed and home field advantage. At 10-5, the Dolphins are in though the outcome of Sunday's game could impact their seedings. New England opened -6 but has since been bet up to -10.

“I don’t really understand that question,” Belichick said. “We have — I don’t know how many starters we have, but we have a lot more than — we can only inactivate seven players, so this isn’t like a preseason game where you have 75 guys on your roster. This is a regular season game, so I don’t really understand that whole line of questioning. I’m not saying I’m a great mathematician or anything, but the numbers just don’t add up for that type of conversation.”

College Basketball Betting Free Play: Pepperdine Waves at Gonzaga Bulldogs

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Pepperdine at Gonzaga -26 O/U 145.5
Recommendation: Over

Pepperdine has played some pretty good offenses this season and in nearly every instance, said offenses had their way with the Waves. Due in large part to a few key injuries, Pepperdine has lost seven straight and during that span allowed 84.8 ppg. A turnaround doesn't look likely this evening as they head to Spokane to take on Gonzaga who owns the 15th-rank offensive efficiency in the country. And when given the chance, the Zags are running more this season with 70 or more possessions in eight games including 82 in last week's 102-65 win over South Dakota. Most of Pepperdine's game have been fairly fast in large part because of playing from behind. And despite being short-handed, the Waves have netted 63 points or more in every game. Getting to 60 is far from a guarantee tonight as Gonzaga counters with some of the best defensive numbers in the country (0.91 ppp allowed). What's likely needed is a margin and based on the pointspread (Gonzaga -26) the second half should feature plenty of garbage time. The Zags with a good shot at hitting 90 tonight which puts the over in play.
