College Basketball Betting Free Play: Utah State Aggies at Colorado State Rams

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Utah State at Colorado State -5.5 O/U 140.5
Recommendation: Under

I've played Utah State under the total a handful of times over the last few weeks and have been rewarded with a few easy winners. The Aggies have actually gone under in six straight games based on the closing number thanks to some improved defense and a moderate pace. During that stretch, USU allowed 67.7 ppg and four of the six had 65 possessions or less. One such game was the first meeting between Utah State and tonight's opponent Colorado State. The Rams prevailed 64-56 as the game went well under the total of 142. CSU is a game out of first place in the Mountain West after winning four of five. The Rams are one of the slower teams in the MWC, particiularly on offense as Larry Eustachy has really preached patience. "It's the way you should play basketball," Eustachy said. "You want the other team to guard you, break them down, take a good shot, and then you don't spend as much time on defense." The Mountain West can be a tough nut to crack for totals bettors. There are a lot of games that appear headed for the low-130's only to land north of 150. Fouls, defensive Read more

Super Bowl LI Gambling: Vegas sportsbooks indicate small profit

02.06.2017     09:50 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Word around Las Vegas is that Super Bowl LI was a "small" win for the sportsbooks. The action on the game was fairly balanced but what hurt was all of the plus-price in-game wagers on New England. The good news for the books was that the game didn't land 3.

“In-play was the killer. That was, by far, the worst thing that ever happened,” William Hill sports book director Nick Bogdanovich said. “Everybody was taking the big plus price on New England when they were down 28-3.

“Any time a real good team gets down in any sport, it’s always bad. And you magnify it on the Patriots in the Super Bowl. They had infinite opportunities to take them on the money line, to take a little to make a lot.”

College Basketball Gambling Alert: Louisville suspends two players

02.06.2017     09:28 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Louisville will be without center Mangok Mathiang and forward Deng Adel for tonight's game at Virginia. The duo was suspended for missing curfew. Mathiang had come on of late having averaged 12.8 ppg over his last five games. During that same span, Adel netted 13.8 ppg. The Cardinals were already down starting point guard Quentin Snider (hand). Louisville's offense had a field day with three of the weaker defenses in the ACC (93.6 ppg vs. Pitt, NC State and Boston College) over the last two weeks. Now it must go on the road, shorthanded, against a UVA defense that has allowed 50.4 ppg the last five meetings. The Cavs opened -4 but have since been bet up to -6.5.
