MLB Handicapper Free Betting Pick: San Francisco Giants at San Diego Padres

San Francisco (Cain) -110 at San Diego (Perdomo) O/U 8.5
Recommendation: Over

The Padres gave up 14 runs on opening day, allowing the LA Dodgers to get up and Over the total all by themselves. It was the same story yesterday – five relievers combined to allow six runs in four innings following a very shaky start from Jered Weaver.

With the worst starting staff in the majors, we can expect San Diego to endure more than their fair share of ugly defeats this year. San Diego’s bullpen is every bit as problematic as their starting staff; a unit with an 8.18 ERA after their first four games.

Today’s matchup isn’t any better for the Padres pitching staff with that same gas can bullpen coming behind Luis Perdomo this time around. Perdomo struggled against this lineup last year – Brandon Belt, Hunter Pence, Buster Posey and Denard Span all had multiple hits against him. And the Giants lineup has come out of the gate clicking on all cylinders, pounding out 17 runs in three games at Arizona, with all three of those contests going Over the total.

Gambling Update: Phil Mickelson is the friend you wish you had

04.07.2017     08:48 AM     Printer Friendly

Phil Mickelson's level of coolness continues to grow...

“Hey, it’s Phil,” he says. “Hey, Sunday morning, we’re on. Yeah, it’s you and I, we’re partnered against Charley and one of his partners. Where would you like to play? We could play Rancho Santa Fe if you want, or we could play Coronado early and even some place else after if we play early enough. But you and I are partnered, wanted to see if you wanted to play Coronado and take these guys for some serious cash. So let me know. Talk to you later. Bye.”

Dustin Johnson's injury sparks betting controversy

04.07.2017     08:44 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
Interesting situation went down at The Masters yesterday. Dustin Johnson screw up his back but tried to give it a go only to walk off the tee box having not attempted a stroke. That led to a lot of confusion in terms of sportsbooks refunding various bets.

"Under normal circumstances, we wouldn't give back the money, but for the last couple years, for the majors, we've decided to give back the money if a golfer doesn't tee off," said Johnny Avello, who runs that book. "It turns out to be such a hassle not to do the refund because for the next three months all you hear from those customers is about the money they lost."

"We had it for years when Tiger [Woods] didn't wind up playing, and it's not only golf. When Ole Miss got their bowl ban [in February], that didn't mean that anyone who bet on Mississippi got their money back."

NHL Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Calgary Flames at Los Angeles Kings

Calgary +125 at Los Angeles O/U 5
Recommendation: Calgary

My clients and I have been the beneficiaries of several winning bets against the Los Angeles Kings in recent weeks and tonight looks like another solid opportunity at an equally solid price. The Kings were officially eliminated from the playoffs last weekend--an utmost disappointing result for what is a veteran laden hockey team well versed in winning and participating in the postseason. Los Angeles is on an 11-16 run and though they are coming off a victory at home against Edmonton, it was probably the Oilers worst game in weeks. Calgary still has something to play for as they look to maintain the top Wildcard position in the Western Conference. Finishing in that position instead means avoiding the conference-leading Chicago Blackhawks in the first round which is something that most teams would try to shoot for. Calgary is off back-to-back losses but have not lost three straight games since late January and they should be a highly motivated squad tonight to snap their mini funk. Los Angeles is out of the playoffs this season because they simply haven’t been good enough Read more

MLB Handicapping: Analyzing pitchers who threw in the World Baseball Classic

04.06.2017     10:26 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
We've been hearing mixed reports on whether or not pitchers who tossed in the WBC are more vulnerable to injuries and/or struggles. Injuries can obviously occur in spring training as well but spring training is a far more laid back and controlled environment. We've already seen two pitchers who threw in the WBC hit the shelf with New York's Seth Lugo hoping to avoid Tommy John and Drew Smyly receiving plasma injections for a bum elbow and placed on the 60-day DL. For some, throwing in WBC has had no negative impact. Minnesota's Hector Santiago said it actually helped Read more

NBA Gambling: Los Angeles Lakers are winning and covering games on accident

04.06.2017     08:15 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
It's well documented that the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to tank in order to better position themselves for the upcoming draft. Things however aren't going well. After losing 18 of their last 20, the Lakers have won (and obviously covered) back-to-back games. The last of which was on the road against San Antonio in which LA played a glorified rec league team in the fourth quarter. Four games remain: vs. Sacramento, vs. Minnesota, vs. New Orleans, at Golden State.
