MLB Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees

Tampa Bay (Andriese) at New York (Severino) -140 O/U 8
Recommendation: Over

Tampa Bay’s Matt Andriese is the weakest link in an otherwise sturdy Tampa Bay Rays starting rotation. He is the fifth starter and pitched like one in his first outing of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays. Andriese was lit up for five runs on seven hits and lasted only four innings. His hard contact percentage was an alarming 68.8% and keep in mind that was against a Blue Jays lineup that hasn’t hit at all thus far. Tonight, he’ll face a red hot Yankees lineup that has pounded out 4+ runs in five consecutive games and 32 runs during that span. Andriese has struggled with the Yankees during this career, allowing 11 runs in 13.1 innings. The Rays bullpen is also taxed after a relatively short starting stint by Blake Snell yesterday. On the flip side, Luis Severino is still trying to reclaim his 2015 form in which he posted a rock solid 2.89 ERA in 11 starts as a rookie. Last season was a disastrous one for him and his first start this season wasn’t much better as he allowed four runs on six hits and lasted just five innings vs. Read more

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Outside of the Super Bowl, Las Vegas sportsbooks have long been finicky when it comes to offering prop bets. The Gaming Control Board has generally shied away from bets that could potentially involve a predetermined outcome. But due to high demand, it was recently announced that sportsbooks will accept wagers on the upcoming NFL draft. Below are the various props that will be offered.

MLB Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Cincinnati (Garrett) at Pittsburgh (Nova) -165 O/U 8
Recommendation: Over

Cincinnati's Amir Garrett threw six shutout innings in his rookie debut last Friday. His effort however came in the comforts of home against the offensively anemic St. Louis Cardinals. Garrett noticeably lost velocity as the game wore on, failed to miss a single bat with his fastball, and allowed 10 fly balls and four line drives. The big 6-5 lefty has promise but his stuff appears to be no. 4 starter-esque at this point. Pittsburgh's offense is off to a slow start (3 runs the first two games of the series) but should plate a handful of runs against Garrett. Pittsburgh's Ivan Nova has really thrived in the National League since comes over from the New York Yankees last season. And he started the season strong: 6 IP, 1 ER vs. Atlanta. At this point in his career, Nova doesn't miss many bats and could have a bit more difficulty navigating what has been a very potent Cincinnati lineup. The Reds are averaging 4.9 runs per game and hit 13 home runs and that's with Joey Votto yet to hit his weight. With two below average bullpens, mild temps, and a slight win blowing Read more

NBA Handicapping: Players resting and big line moves highlight final day of regular season

04.12.2017     11:44 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
It's the final day of the NBA regular season and while nearly every playoff seed and matchup has been determined the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference is still up go grabs. Chicago, who plays host to Brooklyn, own the tiebreaker over Miami, who plays host to Washington. Unlike most lottery teams, the Nets haven't been in tank mode due to their draft pick being sent elsewhere. However, they decided tonight would be a good opportunity to rest some of their key players. This pushed the Bulls up from -9 to -14.5 favorites. The Wizards are sitting a bunch of guys as well but even if the Heat win (-8.5 to -11.5), a Bulls victory means Miami is out. Indiana sits a game ahead of both Chicago and Miami and should have any easy go of it against an Atlanta squad that is resting its starters. The Pacers were bet up from -7.5 to -14.5.
