MLB Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Colorado Rockies at Seattle Mariners

Colorado (Freeland) +115 at Seattle (Gallardo) O/U 9
Recommendation: Colorado

The Colorado Rockies have been remarkably adept at avoiding extended losing streaks this season. The Rockies have matched their longest skid of the year, heading into their afternoon affair in Seattle today, dropping each of their last three games.

Following the Rockies lone previous three game skid this year – at home against Washington – they immediately responded with back-to-back wins as part of a 4-2 road trip. I’m expecting similar results this afternoon from a squad that has played .667 ball on the highway this season while cashing an impressive 20 different times already this season at an underdog price.

The Mariners scored exactly one run in five straight losses last week, including three consecutive home losses to the White Sox. They got shut out twice in Boston last weekend. Even though their bats have been more productive this week, Seattle is not a team that I trust to put crooked numbers up on the scoreboard on a regular basis.

The Mariners are 3-7 with Yovani Gallardo on the hill. Of their nine Read more

MLB Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles

Boston (Rodriguez) at Baltimore (Miley)
Recommendation: Boston Team Total OVER 4.5

Boston lefty Eduardo Rodriguez has been an enigma for me over the years so rather than try to project how he will fare tonight against the Baltimore lineup, I decided to focus in on my belief that the Red Sox will hit Wade Miley and the Orioles bullpen which has not been as dominant this season without the services of their closer Zach Britton. Miley has a fraudulent 0.92 ERA at home in four starts despite some horrible peripherals which includes major control problems (14 walks in 19.2 IP). Miley has seen his walks per 9 innings rise significantly this season and his swinging strike rate decline. He was tagged by the Red Sox in his only previous start against them in September of last season as he lasted just 1.1 innings while getting shelled for six runs on eight hits. Miley has only worked deeper than five innings once in his last six starts and that is significant because this Baltimore's seventh straight game and their starters have not worked beyond the seventh inning in five of their last six. Boston’s lineup is collectively batting .275 Read more

College Football Gambling: A quick look at first-year coordinators

06.01.2017     08:58 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Yesterday we posted a chart on all of the head coach changes for the upcoming college football season. More often than not, with new coaches comes new coordinators. Below is a list of some of the more prominent names.

California - The Golden Bears appear to be going in the opposite direction of former head coach Sonny Dykes' "all offense, no defense" system. First-year head coach Justin Wilcox has been a DC for much of his career and brought along longtime Air Force HC Tim DeRuyter to serve as DC. Beau Baldwin, who turned Eastern Washington into a FCS powerhouse, was named OC.

UConn - It's been years since the Huskies posted even average offensive numbers. Randy Edsall return to Storrs and looks for former Auburn OC Rhett Lashlee to help turn things around.

Florida Atlantic - Not shy about turmoil, Lane Kiffin went ahead and picked up former Baylor OC Kendal Briles to run the offense. Kiffin has been candid about saying Briles will have "complete control" of the play calling. That is until the Owls fail to score a touchdown Read more

NBA Finals Handicapping: Big market move on the UNDER

06.01.2017     08:32 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Very big move on the total for tonight's Game 1 of the NBA Finals. After opening 226, the total reached as high as 227, but a big wave of under money has most offshore sportsbooks now offering 223. Slow and perhaps reluctant to react, 224.5/224 is still available in Las Vegas. According to Sports Options, 59% of the "public" is on the under while 59% prefers Cleveland +7. Note that a few offshore books (Pinnacle, Heritage and Matchbook) are currently showing 7.5.
