College Football Betting Preview: Memphis Tigers at UCF Knights

Memphis at UCF
Saturday, 4 pm PT - ESPN2
CRIS Opener: UCF -3 O/U 70
CRIS Current: UCF -4 O/U 68
Recommendation: Over

UCF is finally starting to look like the type of well-oiled offensive machine head coach Scott Frost conducted during his time as offensive coordinator at Oregon. The Knights piled up 61 points against FIU and 38 points against Maryland utilizing a very balanced attack featuring nearly 200 yards per game on the ground and over 300 yards per game through the air. Quarterback McKenzie Milton has been an improved passer this season completing 66% with a solid 5-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio. He also has that dual threat ability to make plays with his feet (79 ypg). I expected Memphis to be improved on the defensive side of the ball but that hasn’t come to fruition. The Tigers stop unit has continued to struggle, especially against the pass as they’ve yielded 344 ypg at a 7.3 ypp clip. Memphis’ defensie is an injury riddled mess with the loss of three defensive starters in its season opening victory against UL-Monroe. Starting defensive back Tim Read more

College Football Betting Preview: Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders at Florida Atlantic Owls

Middle Tennessee State at Florida Atlantic
Saturday, 4 pm PT
CRIS Opener: Florida Atlantic -1.5 O/U 51
CRIS Current: Florida Atlantic -3 O/U 58.5
Recommendation: Over

Four games and four very easy "unders" for Middle Tennessee State who for a third straight game except to be without the services of quarterback Brent Stockstill. The Blue Raiders have played a weird schedule with even weirder results. In Week 1, Vanderbilt was able to control tempo and grind out a low scoring 28-6 win. In Week 2, with Stockstill under center, MTSU traveled to Syracuse in what projected to be a high scoring affair (total closed 72). Instead, the Blue Raiders purposely slowed down the pace of the game and came away with a 30-23 win. Week 3 they stood little chance as Stockstill was ruled out and Vanderbilt-esque Minnesota put the clamps down en route to a 34-3 victory. And finally last week, a game in which I felt set up well for a bet on the "over", never had a chance as MTSU and Bowling Green scored only six points combined in a very sloppy second half after 31 points in the first half. Legalized sports betting continues to make strides

09.27.2017     10:51 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
Let's be clear: legalized and regulated sports betting in the United State will eventually happen. Strides have been made, the public has spoken, and more or more people are realizing its lucrative potential. When the occurs is anyone's guess. Considering the glacial pace of the situation, we're putting even money it goes down within the next three years.

“Literally, we’re at the 1-yard line, and it’s first-and-goal,” said Daniel Wallach, a sports gaming law expert and attorney at Becker & Poliakoff in Fort Lauderdale.

College Football Gambling: Charlotte makes change at offensive coordinator

09.27.2017     10:34 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
No wins (and no pointspread covers) for the Charlotte 49ers prompted head coach to Brad Lambert to make a few coaching changes over the weekend. Offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen was demoted and run-game coordinator Greg Adkins will take his place. The 49ers started 0-2 with expected losses to Eastern Michigan and Kansas State. But a 35-31 loss to FCS NC A&T and last week's 28-0 home loss to bottom feeder Georgia State was more than enough reason for Lambert to "shake things up." Charlotte has now failed to cover its last seven games dating back to last season. They travel to FIU this Saturday.

“No question, we need to be more competitive,” said Lambert. “Our players and coaches come in every day and work hard to win football games. But, we need a change, offensively. Coach Adkins has a lot of experience from an offensive standpoint and has coached at just about every level, including the NFL and (Power Five) conferences and we feel really good about what he can bring to that unit.”

College Football Betting News: Maryland hammered by more quarterback injuries

09.27.2017     08:59 AM     Printer Friendly
What you see below has not been photoshopped.

From beating Texas on the road to open the year to prepping your third and fourth string quarterbacks...such is life for the Maryland Terrapins. Kasim Hill tore his ACL in last week's loss to UCF which leaves the Terps with backup/backup Max Bortenschlager for this weekend's game at Minnesota. It's also unfortunate that Maryland doesn't have a bye week the remainder of the year and plays the top four teams in the Big Ten: at Ohio State, at Wisconsin, vs. Michigan and vs. Penn State.
