CRIS Current: Wisconsin -12.5 O/U 45.5
Recommendation: Under

Feeling the heat of an 1-3 start, including a home loss to Northern Illinois, Nebraska head coach Mike Riley is well aware his days in Lincoln could be numbered. Said "heat" has cooled off a little bit thanks to back-to-back wins to open Big Ten play. The competition Rutgers and Illinois was far from imposing and it really ramps up moving forward starting with a home tilt vs. Wisconsin. One noticable change during Nebraska's two recent wins was a far more conservative game plan. The Cornhuskers ran the ball 85 times vs. only 45 pass attempts. Check out some of the quotes following NU's win over Rutgers:

“Running the ball to win at the end is a good thing to be able to do,” Riley said. “That mentality as we go Read more

College Football Gambling: UTEP brings back Mike Price because of course it did

10.03.2017     11:50 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
In today's That's About Right news we have UTEP deciding to bring back Mike Price after Sean Klugler resigned. For whatever reason, Price is viewed as some sort of "favorite son" despite not doing much of anything outside of an 8-win season his first year on the job. UTEP got progressively worse under his watch yet he managed to stick around for nine (!) years. Price, however, made it clear he's not sticking around and he's there just to provide someone to talk to the press after a blowout loss. Perhaps Price can use last week's pointspread cover vs. Army as motivation; UTEP's first of the season. The Miners are currently +18.5 home underdog vs. Western Kentucky for Saturday.

NFL Handicapping: Bears make switch to Trubisky

10.03.2017     11:28 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
If you had the "yes" on Will Mitch Trubisky Start A Game Before Week 8, it was a never-in-doubt winner. Trubisky will be under center Monday night vs. Minnesota (no line as of Tuesday afternoon). The rookie from North Carolina looked the part during the preseason and after Mike Glennon committed his 138th turnover, the Bears felt there was no choice but to make the switch. Remember for every Deshaun Watson, there's a Deshone Kizer lurking not too far behind.

The Bears will run a simplified version of their offense, Trubisky said, but one that will feature more play-action, rollouts and moving the pocket, to play to the rookie’s athleticism and accuracy throwing on the run. Trubisky claimed he hasn’t felt outside buzz, but know the stakes are high.

“We’re in this new era where young quarterbacks are expected to come in right away and produce like veterans have,” Trubisky said.

College Football Betting News: LSU nears full-on dumpster fire status

10.03.2017     11:19 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
You can't make this stuff up. Already feeling the heat after a loss to Mississippi State and a lackluster showing vs. Syracuse, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron felt the need to stick his nose where it clearly didn’t belong and admitted to "offering suggestions" on how LSU should run its offense in the second half of last week's loss to Troy. This of course after Orgeron brought in highly respected offensive coordinator Matt Canada and told Canada the offense is all yours heading into the season. The offense, while far from smooth, hasn't been that bad (6.4 yards per play). And despite being under constant pressure, quarterback Danny Etling has been serviceable (150.8 QB Rating, 35th nationally). Yet, they (we assume Orgeron), insist on inserting QB of the future Myles Brennan at seemingly inopportune times. Add it all up and voila, a home loss to a Sun Belt team. Orgeron now claims he won't intervene with Canada who we'd love to hear from but won't because LSU coordinators haven't spoken to the media since the preseason. Next up for the Tigers, a Read more
