College Basketball Betting Free Play: Valparaiso Crusaders at Santa Clara Broncos

Valparaiso -1.5 at Santa Clara O/U 135
Recommendation: Valparaiso

Valparaiso stumbles in here having lost three straight contests which includes a pair of 30+ point losses at Purdue and Northwestern. Up until this stretch, Valpo had been 8-0 against a slew of average to below average opponents which indicates the hit start may have been somewhat fraudulent. The loss of leading scorer Tevonn Walker the past two games (mononucleosis) disrupted the Crusaders offense drastically and his availability for tonight is in question. Matt Lottich went so far as to say his team did not play hard and didn’t look like they were having any fun playing basketball in their 21 turnover performance against Northwestern. Four days to prepare for this game plus the weight of finals week off their minds figures to breed a much better effort tonight.

Herb Sendek’s Santa Clara team has struggled all season with only three non-descript wins and offensive and defensive efficiency rankings of 202 and 255 respectively in the kenpom.com ratings. They’ve allowed at least 49.2% FG shooting in five of their last six games and have shot Read more

NFL Gambling: Betting market support for the Cleveland Browns continues

12.18.2017     09:17 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Behold! The line history of the Cleveland Browns! Seemingly every Sportsmemo NFL Opening Line Report podcast segment features commentary on how the winless Browns have "taken early money." That hasn't always been the case this season based on CRIS's opening and closing pointspreads. In fact, the market "bet against" Cleveland six of its first eight games. But since their Week 9 bye, the Browns have been one of the more popular bets in the NFL. And it hasn't been meaningless half point or juice moves either, it's been crossing key numbers "love." But of those six games, only once was Cleveland able to reward its backers. This week, more of the same; the Browns opened +7 at Chicago and were bet down to +6.5.

Week 1 vs. Pittsburgh
CRIS Opener: Cleveland +9.5
CRIS Closer: Cleveland +10
Result: Cleveland ATS Win (21-18)

Week 2 at Baltimore
CRIS Opener: Cleveland +7
CRIS Closer: Cleveland +7.5
Result: Cleveland ATS loss (24-10)

Week 3 at Indianapolis
CRIS Opener: Cleveland -2.5
CRIS Closer: Cleveland pk
Result: Cleveland ATS loss (31-28)

Week 4 vs. Cincinnati
CRIS Opener: Cleveland +4

NFL Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Cincinnati Bengals at Minnesota Vikings

Cincinnati at Minnesota
Sunday, 10 am PT - CBS
CRIS Opener: Minnesota -10 O/U 41
CRIS Current: Minnesota -11.5 O/U 42
Recommendation: Minnesota

Cincinnati hasn’t been a double-digit underdog in any game since 2008; a testament to the strength of Marvin Lewis’s tenure with the team. Of course it is probably worth noting that Cinci went 0-3 ATS in their final three tries as double digit dogs nearly a decade ago; non-competitive in defeat.

The Bengals were non-competitive in defeat again last week, walloped 33-7 at home by a Bears team that came into the game with a 3-9 record. The quotes coming out of Cinci’s locker room after the defeat weren’t particularly positive, to put it mildly. Andy Dalton: “We didn’t have a lot of energy.” George Iloka: “We came out flat.” Brandon LaFell: “We laid an egg.” So what changes this week? Not much!

Cinci is an injured riddled mess right now. Their entire starting linebacking corps has been unable to practice this week. Don’t expect LB’s Read more
