Miami at Chicago -3 O/U 48

Positive sign for the Chicago Bears with their offensive line's original starting five expected to play this weekend vs. Miami. The unit hasn't been together since Week 1. The Bears rank 18th in the league in yards per carry (4.2) and 22nd in sacks allowed per game (2.3).

NFL Gambling: Indianapolis Colts dominating time of possession

Here's the blueprint for why Indianapolis is 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS this season. Since Andrew Luck took over, the Colts have covered 66% (27-14) of their games.

"We're running a lot of plays on offense," coach Chuck Pagano said. "Consequently we're moving the chains and moving the sticks. The yards are adding up and the points are adding up and all those things. Our defense is chewing ice and sitting on the bench a lot longer, playing a lot less.

"Every time we look up, it's 48 plays, 50 plays, 52 plays on defense, so they're a lot fresher," he added. "When you're fresh, especially in the fourth quarter, it makes all the difference in the world."

NFL Gambling Preview: Cincinnati Bengals at Indianapolis Colts

CRIS Current: Indianapolis -3 O/U 49.5
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Indianapolis
Teddy Covers' Recommendation: Indianapolis

The Bengals went into their bye week at 3-0 SU, 3-0 ATS, in large part because their defense dominated all three of those early season contests (wins over the Ravens, Titans and Falcons).  But in two games since their bye week, Marvin Lewis’s defense has been positively torched, allowing 80 points and 936 yards to the Patriots and Panthers.   The season long stats still show the Bengals with a top 10 defense on a yards-per-play basis, allowing 5.3 yards per opposing snap.  But those numbers were elite two weeks ago; not anywhere near elite today.  That being said, Cinci still ranks #2 in the NFL in yards per play differential; in large part due to the big play ability from Read more

Teddy Covers' Las Vegas Wiseguy Report: NFL has longstanding relationship with gambling Part 2

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Last week, I wrote about the NFL’s origins: a league designed by gamblers for gamblers.  Heck, the games are still played at 1 pm on Sundays here in 2014, just as they were 80 years ago, because the old Blue Laws forced horse tracks to close on Sundays and the league’s original owners wanted to offer bettors a place to gamble after church every week.

This week’ I’ll be leaving the early days behind, picking up the story with the infamous 1958 Championship Game between the Colts and Giants – the game that really put the NFL on the map when it comes to national television exposure (and ratings).

The 1958 championship between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Giants has been called the "Greatest Game in NFL History."  The overtime thriller was nationally televised, and drew enormous ratings with forty million Americans tuning in, spurring the league’s incredible growth over the next decade.

NFL Gambling Update: Sportsbooks post lines on remaining three games

10.10.2014     09:07 AM     Printer Friendly
UPDATE

Earlier this morning, CRIS posted lines on the three NFL games that were kept off the board due to "key" injuries. Tennessee will start quarterback Charlie Whitehurst against Jacksonville. The Titans opened -4 and were bet up to -5. No total yet. Calvin Johnson was downgraded to doubtful while Teddy Bridgewater is now probable. As a result, the Lions opened -1 but the Vikings have taken money and are now -1.5/-2 point favorites. And Arizona is still debating between quarterbacks Drew Stanton and Logan Thomas. Carson Palmer (shoulder) is unlikely to play. CRIS opened the Cardinals -2.5 and it was bet up to -3 with no total.

Drew Martin checks in with his week 1 college football card off of a solid 2015 campaign. He kicks off with a home dog that is undervalued in the betting markets. Plus, their away foe has a tough travel assignment and some serious hype to live up too in 2016. This is a great opportunity to jump on board in early September college football- guaranteed to cash or Drew's next selection is on the house.

$35
Drew Martin has a 15*(1.5 Unit) play kicking off Saturday between two teams that have gone through a lot of change the last couple years. The odds makers have this line too short. With all the new talent/ lack of talent on one of these two teams it is hard not to lay this number. Jump on board for only $35; Guaranteed to cash or you will receive Drew's next CFB release at absolutely no extra charge.
