NBA Betting Alert: Philadelphia's trades spark heavy steam on Dallas and the UNDER

Dallas -13.5 at Philadelphia O/U 212

Huge move on both the side and total for tonight's Dallas-Philadelphia game. The Mavericks opened -9.5 with a total of 216. They've since been steamed up to -13.5 while the total – a rare occurrence for any game involving the 76ers – was bet down to 212. Yesterday, Philly unloaded Evan Turner, Lavoy Allen, and Spencer Hawes.

Cleveland at Toronto -7.5 O/U 196.5

The Cleveland Cavaliers will be a little thin for tonight's game at Toronto. CJ Miles (ankle), Dion Waiters (knee) and Anderson Varejao (back) did not travel with the team. Newly acquired center Spencer Hawes is expected to make his debut with the team. Since that infamous loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Cavs have won and covered six straight.

NBA Handicapping: Not much action as trade deadline passes

The NBA trade deadline ended earlier this afternoon. ESPN has a nice breakdown of each trade. One of the most newsworthy took place today with the Philadelphia 76ers shipping Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen to Indiana for Danny Granger.

NBA Handicapper Free Play: New York Knicks at New Orleans Pelicans

New York +3.5 at New Orleans O/U 196
Recommendation: New York

The Knicks showed heart and fight last night, rallying from 18 points down to take a fourth quarter lead before allowing the Grizzlies to score the final seven points of the game.  Memphis got the win, Knicks backers got the money.

Tonight, the Knicks take a major step down in class as they travel to lottery bound New Orleans.  They got the rust off last night, in sharp contrast to the Pelicans, who haven’t played in a week.  New York has dominated this series despite their long-term struggles; 9-2 ATS in the last eleven meetings including five consecutive wins on this floor in New Orleans.  This is one road venue where the Knicks enjoy a level of confidence.

We’re getting an attractive pointspread to support the Knicks tonight, in large part because the Pelicans had a solid stretch of basketball heading into the break; 8-5 in their last 13 ballgames.  Much of that success was schedule related, taking advantage of a relatively weak slate of opponents, including the Bucks, Cavs, Pistons and Magic.  At 7.5 games out of the final Read more

NBA Handicapping: Bogut questionable, Cousins doubtful

Golden State -5 at Sacramento O/U 207

Couple of injuries to note for tonight's Golden State-Sacramento game. According to Sports Options, Golden State's Andrew Bogut and Jermaine O'Neal are questionable. Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousin is still dealing with a hip injury and is doubltful. The Kings are 0-6 SU, 4-2-1 ATS, and 2-4-1 O/U without Cousins.

"We have 29 games to establish our identity -- to defend, to rebound and to run with discipline," said Malone, who spent the previous two seasons as Jackson's top assistant with the Warriors. "My hope is we can finish the season on a strong note, which we can carry into next season."

NBA Betting Trends: Phoenix Suns in tough spot following overtime road win

Boston at Phoenix -7 O/U 203

Another noteworthy historical betting trend in play for tonight's Boston-Phoenix game. The Suns beat the Nuggets in overtime last night, 112-107. Teams that are favored off an overtime win and playing on no rest are 32-35 SU and only 22-44-1 ATS. The average line of that profile was -5.

NBA Gambling Trends: Historical numbers point towards Detroit Pistons

Detroit at Charlotte -2.5 O/U 201

Found this interesting and profitable NBA betting profile for tonight's Detroit-Charlotte game. The two teams hooked up last night in Detroit, with the Bobcats prevailing, 108-96. In these unique same opponent, back-to-back situations, when the home teams loses the first game they are an impressive 31-13 ATS in the road in the rematch. Note that the average line of the profile was +6.5. The trend suggests that teams who pick up the road win tend to suffer a letdown the following night.

NBA Handicapping: San Antonio's injuries keeping bettors on their toes

San Antonio at LA Clippers -6 O/U 210

Old age and injuries catching up to the San Antonio Spurs? Probably not wise to count those dudes out but injuries are becoming a real problem. Gregg Popovich said Tony Parker will be out "for the foreseeable future" including tonight's showdown against the Clippers. Manu Ginobili however was upgraded to probable while Kawhi Leonard and Tiago Splitter remain doubtful.

"The main thing with Pop, he doesn't want me to play 50 percent, 60 percent," Parker said. "That's the main thing. He wants me to get all of my little stuff healed. So however much time it takes, next time I come back on the court he wants me to be 100 percent.

"Against Charlotte, against Detroit, I was not myself. He just doesn't want me to play like that."

Cleveland -3.5 Philadelphia O/U 209.5

Arguably no team needed the All-Star break more than the Philadelphia 76ers. Over their last eight games, the Sixers allowed 115.4 ppg. According to head coach Brett Brown, team morale is high. Philly's schedule over the next few weeks is rather favorable with five straight at home and eight of their next 10 vs. sub-.500 teams.

"I think they're great," Brown said. "They had a heck of a practice today. They have surprised me in that regard throughout the course of the year. They bring, most times, 'A' effort to our practices. Most times they handle it just like pros should handle it. Their spirits are good, despite our record."

"When you see them like this, you realize just how unrested they were when I left them," Brown said. "When we had lost some games as we did, and you Read more

Charlotte at Detroit -4.5 O/U 204

Over the All-Star break Detroit Pistons interim head coach John Loyer hired a new assistant. Loyer also scrambled to "install some new things" as the team prepares for four games in five nights starting this evening vs. Charlotte.

"I told the guys we need it, there's a lot of things we've got to cover, a lot of things we've got to clean up, a lot of things we've got to put in," Loyer said.  "We kind of looked at both sides of the ball -- ways that we can get better shots offensively, and combinations, and ways we can play better defensively, kind of the whole package."
