NBA Gambling Alert: Paul's status for Game 2 questionable/doubtful

05.06.2015     07:36 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Uggg. Chris Paul's status for tonight's Game 2 vs. Houston is once again up in the air. Doc Rivers pretty much has no clue and neither do bettors with "questionable" and "doubtful" the two most common listings. Houston is currently a -6.5/-7.5 favorite. Game 3 is scheduled for Friday.

"I honestly don't know,” Rivers said Tuesday. “My gut before last night was there would be a good chance (he would play Wednesday) so I'd probably lean that way. He looked good walking today."

NBA Handicapping: Fluky fourth quarter dooms Atlanta Hawks in Game 1

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Interesting article on Atlanta's late game collapse vs. Washington. The Hawks has a double-digit lead at half but shot 5-for-28 from the floor in the fourth quarter including 1-of-10 from three.

Since the playoffs expanded to 16 teams in 1983-84, only one other #1 seed has lost a game in the first or second round in which it led by double digits at halftime.

NBA Betting Alert: Clippers' Paul still listed as questionable

05.04.2015     08:10 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Hampered by a hamstring injury, Los Angeles' Chris Paul is anywhere from questionable to doubtful for Monday's Game 1 vs. Houston. The Rockets opened -3 but are currently as high as -6. The total has held at 212.

"I know he had an MRI and that all came out pretty well," Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said. "You have to be careful. If there's any risk, he won't play, I can tell you that right now. I just don't know yet."

The Clippers are currently -2/-2.5 with a total of 204. Dating back to 1948 (the Truman Administration) home teams are 95-24 straight up in postseason Game 7's. From a spread perspective, since 2010, home teams are 10-5 ATS.

NBA Betting Recap: Chicago Bulls cover crazy in-game pointspread of -50

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
There isn't a bettor alive that wasn't thinking "middle" during last night's Chicago-Milwaukee game. You could have live bet the Bulls -20 AND the Bucks +50. Too bad Chicago covered every single number, even the crazy -49.5+374 Pinnacle hung during the last time out. A little different that the Clipper-Spurs contest which never saw an in-game line of double-digits.

As for Thursday afternoon there is only one conference semifinal matchup set: Memphis vs. Golden State. For Sunday's Game 1, the Warriors are currently -9.5 with a total of 198.5. Golden State won two of the three regular season meetings though Memphis covered twice. Two of the three contests went under the total. From a series standpoint, the Warriors are -800. Teddy Covers' Las Vegas Wiseguy Report: NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs update

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
We’re midway through the opening round of the NBA Playoffs and the Eastern Conference still looks noticeably weaker than the West, just as it was during the regular season.  The Cavs weren’t really tested in their sweep over Boston, facing a Celtics team that probably would have struggled to won 30 games against a Western Conference slate.  Atlanta is 0-3 ATS in its first three games against the Nets, looking nothing like the team that dominated the East for extended stretches before the All-Star break.  The Bulls blew a chance to close out their series with the Bucks with a sweep, unable to seal the deal in the closing minutes of Game 4. And while Washington has looked every bit as good as any of the other Eastern Conference contenders, there’s still a lingering stink from the Wizards second half struggles and Randy Wittman’s consistent failures at getting his teams to overachieve.

So which of those four teams (assuming the Hawks don’t blow the series against the Nets) is truly elite, capable of winning at least two more series to make it to the Finals?  Cleveland is the prohibitive favorite to come out of the East, Read more

NBA Handicapper Free Play: San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers Adjusted Series

San Antonio vs. Los Angeles
Adjusted Series Recommendation: Clippers +160

Now that the Spurs have eked out a Game 2 series tying victory in overtime, the time is right to jump on the LA Clippers to win this seven game set at an attractive plus price.  Remember, locking in on LA now will offer significant flexibility if this series does go the distance – the Clippers will be short home favorites in Game 7, allowing the opportunity for a plus price hedge on San Antonio for bettors who choose to go that route.

That being said, I’m not convinced in the slightest that this series will go the full seven games, because there’s one key matchup that the Spurs cannot win – at point guard.  Chris Paul is elite, healthy and at the top of his game, hitting 58% from the floor in the first two games of the series (60% from three point range) with 15 rebounds, 13 assists and a very reasonable six turnovers.  Tony Parker, on the other hand, is a non-factor moving forward if he suits up at all.  Parker is 4-17 from the floor in the series thusfar, with only six assists.  With lingering injuries to his Achilles, Read more
