NBA Finals Betting Recap: San Antonio Spurs Surge Back Into Series Lead

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Submitted by Stat Intelligence

It was surely a team effort from the San Antonio Spurs Sunday Night. You could point to any individual and find a lot to sing about.

*Manu Ginobili had his “back from the dead” game after seeing Dwyane Wade do that for the Heat the last time out.

*Danny Green continued his unprecedented three-point shooting, nailing 6 of 10 from long range.

*Tony Parker ran the offense effectively…which was important tonight because San Antonio was being very aggressive in terms of attacking QUICKLY. Not fast break points, but…as Zach Lowe of Grantland  pointed out on twitter…by getting the ball into the post quickly. Parker was also 10 of 14 shooting.

*Tim Duncan wasn’t the star of the game…but he was 7 of 10 from the floor, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.

As you know if you watched the game…all of that production came out of a team approach. It wasn’t a case of different guys trying to take Read more

Heading into Tuesday's must-win Game 6, the Miami Heat have won and covered 12 straight games off of a loss. For the 2012-13 season, they are 19-3 SU, 16-6 ATS. Going back to last year, the Heat are 36-13 and 31-18 ATS. Those supporting the zig-zag theory during the NBA Finals are 4-0 SU/ATS.

Miami -1.5 at San Antonio O/U 187.5

Another big move towards the Miami Heat, only this time the betting markets didn't wait around until game day. Following last night's Game 4, Pinnacle opened with the Spurs -1.5 for Sunday's Game 5. For the next 10 minutes, Pinny didn't take a bet that wasn't on Miami. By this morning the Heat were favored and now sit -1.5.

NBA Finals Betting Recap: Miami Heat Magnificent, Series Even at 2-2

For the first time in I don’t know how long, we saw the Miami Heat at truly peak intensity. It wasn’t even about finding that extra gear for a short spurt when needed. Miami hustled in all elements of play from the get-go. San Antonio hung with them through three quarters thanks to effective three-point shooting (50% from the floor again, though it was 8 of 16 rather than 16 of 32) and by earning more free throws. Just a fantastic game through three quarters because the Heat were truly at a peak, and the Spurs were hanging with them.

In the fourth, the Spurs ran out of gas while the stars who promised Miami they would bring multiple championships played like Hall-of-Famers.

The TV coverage has already talked a lot about the individual stars. No reason to add to that. Don’t want to suggest I’m de-emphasizing those gaudy individual numbers…because they were obviously very important. But, I’d just be repeating all the other coverage Read more

NBA Gambling Trends: San Antonio Spurs have good track record off of a loss

Miami -1 at San Antonio O/U 187.5

If you zigged with the Miami Heat yesterday (upping their streak to 12-0 SU/ATS off of a loss) perhaps you’ll want to zag with the San Antonio Spurs for Sunday's Game 5. While not as strong, the Spurs also have a decent track record off a loss, particularly in the postseason. For the season, SA is 22-5 SU and 15-11 ATS – note that four of those ATS losses came the final week of the regular season where motivation wasn't exactly a priority. In the postseason, the Spurs are a perfect 3-0 SU/ATS including Game 2's blowout in South Beach.

NBA Gambling Alert: Miami Heat now favored for Game 4

Miami -1 at San Antonio O/U 186.5

We mentioned yesterday about Miami's recent track record off of a loss. It is likely one of the reasons why the Heat are now favored for tonight's Game 4 at San Antonio. The Spurs opened -1.5 at CRIS and were actually bet to -2 before a slew of Heat money came in.

NBA Finals Betting Recap: Hey Spurs! You Might Want to Save Some of Those Treys For Later!

06.12.2013     07:06 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.

The San Antonio Spurs set an all-time NBA Finals record by making 16 treys in their 113-77 Game Three victory over the Miami Heat Tuesday night. That put them ahead 2-1 in the best-of-seven series, and allowed them to maintain home court advantage for the time being.

It’s a fun party when everything’s falling in a 36-point victory. But…you don’t get to carry over any of the scoring into the next game. And, they know Miami’s just as capable of getting hot from long range in either Game Four or Game Five in the Alamo City. We talked in our “statline” preview that either team could see an outlier from long range lead to a big night. This was that for the Spurs.

That being said…there are a few things besides the three-point barrage worth noting to me.

*Overshadowed by the treys is the fact that this was an “Imposing of Will” type game for the Spurs. They were doing a great job defensively and on the boards in Read more
