NBA Handicapping: Memphis wants to make a game of it vs. Golden State

04.13.2016     08:43 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
You wouldn't know it by the pointspread, but the Memphis Grizzlies are going to give it a go tonight against the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies have been in free-fall (1-9 run) thanks to a slew of injuries. Meanwhile, the Warriors obviously have something to play for with the NBA's all-time regular season wins record at stake. And the betting markets think they'll get it with ease as the line jumped from -16 to -19.

"It's for history, baby," Joerger said. "We're going to give it our best shot."

"Yeah, the emotional tank is a little bit empty right now," Joerger said.

"You also know that sitting out there 24 hours you've got a chance to be the answer on every Trivial Pursuit card for the next 75 years. We'll see what we're going to do with that tomorrow."

NBA Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Sacramento Kings at Phoenix Suns

04.11.2016     02:12 PM     Rob Veno     Printer Friendly
Submitted by Rob Veno

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Sacramento +6 at Phoenix O/U 218.5
Recommendation: Sacramento

Pair of non-playoff teams with different perceptions on how they’re approaching these meaningless final games. Phoenix is a team people see as still giving effort while Sacramento is a disgruntled group that can’t wait for the season to end. To some extent, that’s why Phoenix is favored by any amount in this matchup and the -6 that we see right now has the absence of Kings top player DeMarcus Cousins tacked on to it. The Suns have a key injury of their own as Archie Goodwin who has played very well down the stretch is expected to miss tonight’s game. That leaves Phoenix with just one PG (Ronnie Price) and puts the Suns' backcourt at a distinct disadvantage in this game. Rajon Rondo should play tonight but even if he doesn’t, the combination of Darren Collison (27 pts yesterday), Seth Curry (averagining 17.0 pts L5G) plus shooting guards James Anderson and Ben McLemore gives Sacramento four guards who are playing hard and will own talent and depth advantages tonight. Phoenix isn’t significantly better than Sacramento at the C position even with Cousins on Read more

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
The eight spots in the Eastern Conference are secure though with two games remaining, a lot can happen in terms of seeding. The top four seeds in the Western Conference are set: Golden State, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and the Los Angeles Clippers. Portland and Memphis are also in while Dallas, Utah, and Houston are still fighting for the final two spots. Here's a link to a more detailed breakdown of all of the scenarios. In the end, tonight's Dallas-Utah game is pretty important.

NBA Gambling Alert: Spurs and Warriors expect to be at full strength for tonight

04.07.2016     08:04 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Sounds as if "everyone" will play in tonight's San Antonio-Golden State game. The Warriors can clinch the Western Conference's top seed with a win. They opened as -5 favorites but have since been bet up to -7.

"I think we'll play," Parker said. "Utah, I thought he was going to rest everybody. But we played Utah, so I don't see any reason we're not playing Golden State.

Like I said, before the Utah game, I thought [Popovich] was going to rest everybody," Parker said. "He said he wanted to play. So if we played Utah, I don't see any reason now we're not going to play Golden State. Before, we were going to rest everybody like against Utah and Golden State. But I guess he changed his mind. Everybody's playing now."

"It's a miracle that we have gone this far without sort of hitting a bump in the road, so this is to be expected,"

NBA Gambling News: Golden State Warriors on 3-7 against the spread skid

04.06.2016     07:51 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
According to Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors have had about enough of this regular season stuff. Last night, the Warriors lost at home in overtime to woeful Minnesota. They've now failed to cover in seven of their last 10 games. Golden State will need to "win out" in order to reach 73. They play host to San Antonio on Thursday. There have been rumbling both teams may rest various players.

"It's human nature to where, all right, kind of ready for the regular season to end," Green said. "Talking 82 games, we get bored with that after awhile. And that's no excuse, just, I'm always give it to y'all real, and that's about as real as I can be. It's kind of at a point now where you're ready for the regular season to be over."

Green continued, "Now, saying that, we got to be a better enough ballclub to continue to try to get better with these games and try and go into the playoffs the right way and not stumble in the playoffs, so, think that's something we have to focus on. We

NBA Handicapping: Multiple playoff spots still up for grabs

04.05.2016     08:41 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Good article on the NBA Playoff scenarios heading into tonight's action. A lot is left to be determined in the Eastern Conference with Atlanta, Boston, Miami, and Charlotte fighting for the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth seeds. Indiana and Detroit are tied for the seventh and eighth spots with Chicago two games back. Things are just as jumbled in the Western Conference with Memphis, Portland, Dallas, Utah, and Houston all within three games of one another for the last four seeds.
