NHL Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Nashville at Colorado -110 O/U 5.5
Recommendation: Over

Two Central Division foes clash in the Mile High City tonight as the Colorado Avalanche host the Nashville Predators. These two clubs are currently headed opposite directions with Nashville, picked by some as a dark horse to win this division, currently in last place with a 2-5-1 record while Colorado, under the leadership of new coach Jared Bednar, is hanging around 4th place with 8 points at 4-3. The Avalanche open up a four-game stretch versus division opponents starting with this evening's contest. Center Matt Duchene leads the club with five goals and a pair of assists over seven games while defensemen Tyson Barrie and Patrick Wiercioch each have four assists, tied for second behind forward Nathan MacKinnon who has five. In goal, Semyon Varlamov has lost three of his last four starts but has a respectable 2.82 GAA and .909 save percentage. Nashville is struggling on the defensive end with goaltender Pekka Rinne allowing 18 goals in his six starts (1-4-1). The Preds' penalty killing unit has also been poor, yielding nine goals which ranks third worst in the league. On the power play, Read more

NFL Handicapping: Jacksonville Jaguars fire offensive coordinator

11.01.2016     09:11 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Back-to-back non-competitive losses prompted Jacksonville to fire offensive coordinator Greg Olson. Quarterbacks coach Nathaniel Hackett will take over. The Jags' offensive problems are simple: Blake Bortles hasn't improved (and still needs a throwing coach?!?!) and the rushing attack is down nearly 20 ypg compared to last season. Jacksonville heads to Kansas City this weekend as +9.5 underdogs.

“Things change and just because there has been a move made or a switch has happened it doesn’t mean we are all of sudden going to start putting up numbers offensively and winning games,” he said on Monday.  “We still have to go out and find a way to execute and eliminate the stuff that has been happening the previous seven weeks.”

“Nathaniel coming in was kind of the spark plug for the offense. That’s kind of his personality, that’s what he is. He is a

NFL Gambling: Bettors shouldn't shy away from the Cleveland Browns

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Even after a winless start for the Cleveland Browns, there are several reasons to believe this team can be an under-the-radar profit producer the remainder of the season. This is a roster obviously devoid of upper-tier talent. They have a sub-par offensive line, no continuity at the quarterback position, a lack of skill position weapons, and a defense with plenty of holes at all three levels. Defensively, the Browns rank 25th of worse in total yards, passing yards, rushing yards and total points allowed per game. The team’s power rating is about as low as it possibly can be right now as most people have them right there with San Francisco as the worst team in the league. But despite the laundry list of problems, this isn’t a team to shy away from from a betting perspective.

I’m a fan of head coach Hue Jackson who with little to work with is still one of the better play designers in the NFL. He’s been able to squeeze as much as possible out of the offense by using multiple formations, pre-snap shifts and unique personnel packages. On the season, Cleveland is averaging 355 ypg which ranks a respectable 15th. Turnovers and red zone problems have kept Read more

NFL Handicapper Free Betting Pick: New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills

10.29.2016     08:05 PM     Teddy Covers     Printer Friendly

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
New England at Buffalo
Sunday, 10 am PT - CBS
CRIS Opener:
New England -5.5 O/U 48
CRIS Current: New England -5.5 O/U 47
Recommendation: New England

The Patriots are a very different team now than they were when Buffalo came to Foxboro and shut them out last month. That game was all about Jacoby Brissett looking like a third string quarterback and the Pats feeling fat and happy after winning their first three games while Tom Brady was suspended. THIS game is all about New England taking firm control of a division that they’ve owned for the last decade and a half.

New England has dominated all three games since Brady’s return. The combination of a pair of elite pass catching tight ends (Gronk and Bennett) and a big, bruising back (LaGarrett Blount) has proven extremely tough to stop with Brady behind center. Belichick’s second look at this Rob Ryan defense is a recipe for success. And the likes of Tyrod Taylor and a banged up Shady McCoy simply aren’t capable of trading touchdowns with the Patriots for four quarters.

The Bills recent four game winning streak Read more

NFL Gambling Alert: With Hoyer out, Bears forced to go back to the well with Cutler

10.25.2016     10:54 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
With Brian Hoyer out, the Chicago Bears will turn back to Jay Cutler who hasn't played since Week 2. The Bears actually rank 10th in the NFL in yards per play (5.8) but have topped 17 points only once -- 23 against defensively inept Indianapolis. Cutler will be tasked with going up against the league's top pass defense on Monday night. The Vikings allow only 5.8 yards per attempt and a league-best 63.7 opposing QB rating.

"At the end of the day, obviously Jay's our starter," Fox asserted. "He was injured and not permitted to play medically. And now that he's healed, he's back to being our starter. That's really the facts and kind of what happened and where we're at now."

NFL Handicapping: NFC East on the rise

10.24.2016     11:33 AM     ICC     Printer Friendly
Submitted by ICC

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
The NFC East has been jokingly called the “NFC Least” by pundits for years because of how weak of a division it had become but it is starting to gain some of its tenacity and strength back. This is the only division in the NFL where each team is above .500 and each of the four teams have a realistic shot to capture the division crown. I will examine where they stand following Week 7.

Dallas Cowboys (5-1 SU, 5-1 ATS)
The Dallas Cowboys have shown no ill effects of being without Tony Romo or Dez Bryant the last few games. They've been propelled by the play of two rookies: quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys are currently third in the NFL in yards per play (6.1) and total yards per game (401.5) thanks to not only Prescott and Elliot but arguably the league's best offensive line. The defense which was thought to be a major area of concern for this team has benefited from the offense sustaining drives and keeping them fresh later in games. The stop unit ranks in the middle of the pack in most defensive categories but have managed to outperform expectations. Dallas comes out of their bye week with a divisional Read more
