College Football Betting Trends: Michigan 4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS off loss under Hoke

11.01.2012     06:10 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Michigan -12.5 at Minnesota O/U 46.5

Small sample size but under Brady Hoke Michigan has played well after losses (4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS). And the Wolverines are still in the hunt for the Legends Division title at 3-1. Nebraska is also 3-1 followed by Northwestern at 3-2. Note that it's Thursday and CRIS has not budged its opening line of 12.5 for Saturday's game at Minnesota.

"It's one of those things he's very good at," Mealer said. "Put that game behind you, learn from the mistakes and let's get on. He comes out to practice (after a loss) fired up, like we're playing for the Super Bowl or something.

"He's comes out laughing and it kind of makes players realize, 'You know what? It's not tense, oh my gosh, we lost, what are we going to do?' It's, 'All right, we're a football team, let's get back to it, let's stay Read more

Spurrier says Alabama would be a small betting favorite over a few NFL teams

10.31.2012     11:57 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Here is your quote of the day...

“Alabama, gosh, they look like they could beat a couple of those NFL teams that I’ve watched on Sundays,” Spurrier said. “I think a lot of the oddsmakers out there, that usually know what’s going on, I’d guess Alabama would be favored by a little bit.”

College Football Betting Preview: Arizona State Sun Devils at Oregon State Beavers

Arizona State at Oregon State

Saturday, 7:30 pm PT – ESPN2
CRIS Opener:
Oregon State -4 O/U 53.5
CRIS Current: Oregon State -4.5 O/U 54.5
Rob Veno’s Power Rating: Oregon State -4.5

Based on the past two weeks it is safe to say the Arizona State's defense may be a tad overrated. We knew a regression was coming after the Sun Devils faced a slew of mediocre offenses and back-up quarterbacks. The last two weeks, against Oregon and UCLA, ASU allowed 88 points and nearly 1,000 yards on close to six yards per play. It is an all-or-nothing unit –sack the quarterback, blow up a run play or get gashed for a big gain.

Folks are making a big deal about Oregon State's quarterback conundrum. Cody Vaz will start this game – Sean Mannion simply isn't 100% healthy. Vaz is going to have to make some quick decisions facing Read more

College Football ATS Analysis: Alabama settles in as 9.5-point favorite at LSU

Alabama -9.5 at LSU O/U 41.5

Checking in on the line moves for Saturday Alabama-LSU matchup. According to Bookmaker, nearly 60% of side bets have come in on the Crimson Tide. CRIS opened the game Alabama -9 while Pinnacle opened -9.5. The line bounced back and forth between 9.5 and 10 before settling in a 9.5. This summer's Golden Nugget Game of the Year lines had LSU -2. The Tigers were +5.5 in their 9-6 OT win at Alabama last season. Bama was -2.5 in the National Championship and won 21-0.

College Football Gambling: Arkansas OC says offense too pass-happy

10.31.2012     08:03 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Tulsa at Arkansas -7.5 O/U 64.5

Arkansas offensive coordinator Paul Petrino says that offense is throwing too many passes and quarterback Tyler Wilson is taking too many chances. This weekend’s game will mark homecoming for the Razorbacks and one of their last opportunities for a win with roads trips to South Carolina and Mississippi State and a home contest against LSU remaining.

"We're throwing the ball too much to be honest with you," Petrino told reporters following Tuesday's workout before the Tulsa game. "His passing yardage is way up, his touchdowns are up and his interceptions are up. Part of it is him trying too hard to make the big play and part of it is maybe me throwing it too much."

College Football Handicapping: Auburn starts frosh QB Wallace

10.31.2012     07:19 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
New Mexico State at Auburn -22.5 O/U 50.5

Perhaps giving a freshman quarterback his first career start, at home, against one of the worst teams in the country will spark a better performance out of Auburn. Then again, maybe not. Jonathan Wallace gets the nod with Clint Moseley and Kiehl Frazier currently nursing injuries. Wallace threw for 122 yards a two scores during garbage time of late week's blowout loss to Texas A&M.

"We thought after going back and looking at the film, that he really played well. We're going to forge ahead with that," Chizik said.

"His play was very positive Saturday night. He made some things happen."
