College Football Betting Preview: Oklahoma Sooners at TCU Horned Frogs

Oklahoma at TCU
Saturday, 12:30 pm PT - FOX
CRIS Opener:
Oklahoma -5 O/U 53.5
CRIS Current: OKlahoma -4.5 O/U 57
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Oklahoma -6.5
Paul Stone's Recommendation: TCU

Playing true to preseason projections, the Oklahoma Sooners have performed like legitimate national championship playoff contenders through the season's opening month.

However, like all teams hoping to ultimately land a spot in college football's inaugural version of the Final Four, the Sooners certainly have a handful of circled dates on their schedule. Those games that, at least on paper, pose the type of challenge that could derail the best laid national playoff plans.

One of those potential land mines comes Saturday when fourth-ranked Oklahoma travels to Fort Worth to tangle with the TCU Horned Frogs.

Under first-year co-offensive coordinators Doug Meachem and Sonny Cumbie, TCU, which is Read more

Thursday Night Football Betting Consensus: Public all over Green Bay Packers and the OVER

10.02.2014     01:46 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Here are the top consensus bets (sides and totals) for tonight's college and pro football games courtesy of Bookmaker. Seen a couple of big move out of the three college contests with Florida International (Ron Turner!) taking money as well as the Arizona-Oregon total getting smoked from 74.5 to as high as 83.5. In the NFL, the Packers were bet down from -10 to -7.5 against the Vikings. Note that the percentages are based on the number of bets made not total handle.

SIDES
83.0% - GREEN BAY -7.5 vs. Minnesota
56.3% - HOUSTON -2.5 vs. Central Florida
52.8% - OREGON -23.5 vs. Arizona
51.4% - FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL +6.5 vs. Florida Atlantic

TOTAL
71.2% - OVER 47 Minnesota-Green Bay
60.3% - OVER 50 Central Florida-Houston
51.2% - UNDER 83 Arizona-Oregon
50.9% - UNDER 47 Florida Atlantic-Florida International

College Football Betting Preview: Iowa State Cyclones at Oklahoma State Cowboys

Iowa State at Oklahoma State
Saturday, 9 am PT - FS1
CRIS Opener:
Oklahoma State -17 O/U 62
CRIS Current: Oklahoma State -17 O/U 65.5
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Oklahoma State -17
OTTO Sports' Recommendation: Oklahoma State

If you run through Iowa State's scores, it would appear that the Cyclones are on the upswing with a near upset of Kansas State, a win at Iowa, and a spread cover/push vs. Baylor. Statistics, however, tell a different story. The Cyclones were badly outgained in their three losses to the tune of 1578-911 and on the season, ISU is -1.77 ypc and -1.29 ypp. Only against Iowa’s anemic offense was ISU able to play a team "even" from a box score perspective.

I don't downgrade Oklahoma State at all with Daxx Garman under center. He's struggled at times with his accuracy but makes up for it with his big play ability (10.7 ypa). It's a good matchup against Read more

Man ran sportsbook out of Pennsylvania casino

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
If you are going to run an illegal sportsbook, it’s probably not a good idea to set up shop at a casino located in a state that doesn’t allow sports betting.

From Nov. 14, 2013 until Feb. 2, 2014, Peterson placed 56 wagers on NFL Football games through the website, records say. From March 21 until April 7, he placed 20 wagers on March Madness college basketball games, police said.

From April 16 to June 1, he placed 45 bets on hockey playoff games, documents indicate.

College Footbal Betting Preview: Stanford Cardinal at Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Stanford at Notre Dame
Saturday, 12:30 pm PT - NBC
CRIS Opener:
Stanford -2.5 O/U 41.5
CRIS Current: Stanford -1.5 O/U 44
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Stanford -1.5
Ian Cameron's Recommendation: Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish looks to remain undefeated with their toughest challenge of the season, the Stanford Cardinal, on tap for Saturday. I successfully bet against Stanford as 8-point road favorites last week in its 20-13 win on the road against Washington. The Cardinal is definitely one of the contenders in the PAC-12 but I think they are somewhat overvalued in the betting markets as oddsmakers respect their defense but don’t realize how difficult it can be to move the ball at times.  They controlled most of the game vs. Washington with a 364-179 total yards edge but three turnovers and problems converting drives into points prevented them from putting the Huskies away. College Football Betting Preview: Nebraska Cornhuskers at Michigan State Spartans

Nebraska at Michigan State
Saturday, 5 pm PT - ABC
CRIS Opener:
Michigan State -8 O/U 58
CRIS Current: Michigan State -7 O/U 58
Rob Veno’s Power Rating: Michigan State -10
Andrew Lange’s Recommendation: Michigan State

Thanks to yesterday's market move we can step in and grab the key number of -7 with Michigan State as it plays host to Nebraska this Saturday. The Spartans were as high as -9 on Monday but some bettors appear to be buying into the Cornhuskers' 5-0 start.

In typical Nebraska fashion we've seen flashes of solid play as well as ineptitude throughout the first month of the season. They were lucky to beat FCS McNeese State, crushed Fresno on the road, played "box score even" with Miami, and then bashed Illinois who was without its starting quarterback. During those swatch of games, the Cornhuskers establishing a run-first identity with over 1,774 Read more
