NBA Handicapping: The Knicks are quickly imploding before our eyes

12.10.2014     02:04 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
In case you were wondering what situation was worse, the Lakers or Knicks, let this article point you in the right direction. It makes LA seem like San Antonio during a postseason run.

"Nobody's taken a swing at anybody, but there's a lot of arguing and cursing each other out after games," one source said.

"There's some resistance to discipline and order and culture change and things like that," Jackson said.

"Guys are definitely frustrated," one source said. "But some of it's just basketball stuff that the players don't like doing. When somebody's demanding that you make a hard cut, you don't like it because you have to work harder. When someone says it's not OK to throw a bulls--- pass, guys don't like it."

NBA Betting News: Sacramento Kings struggle without Cousins

12.08.2014     07:39 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Our favorite NBA player, DeMarcus Cousins, will miss at least another week as he recovers from viral meningitis. Cousins' absence has certainly impacted the Kings who are 1-4 SU, 1-4 ATS, and 4-1 O/U without him in the lineup. With him, they were 9-6 SU, 10-5 ATS, and 7-8 O/U. The Kings are 5.5-point home favorites vs. Utah tonight.

NBA Handicapper Free Play: Miami Heat at Memphis Grizzlies

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Miami at Memphis -8 O/U 190.5
Recommendation: Memphis

The Heat haven’t been able to stay healthy enough to develop much on-court chemistry in the post-LeBron era, with Dwyane Wade bouncing in and out of the lineup and Luol Deng likely to sit once again tonight.  Miami hasn’t beaten a foe that’s anywhere near the .500 mark since the second week of November and I’m not expecting them to break that streak here.   Their only wins in the last three weeks have come against bottom feeders: the Knicks, Bobcats and Magic, all lottery bound foes.  And when the Heat lose, they aren’t coming close, showing plenty of fourth quarter quit.  Each of Miami’s last five losses has come by a double digit margin.

Memphis is a bet-on team today after suffering their first back-to-back losses of the season against Houston and San Antonio in their last two games.  The Grizz continue to  search for the respect that has consistently eluded them in recent seasons when they’ve been an afterthought upstart on the national stage, not a serious title contender.  Center Marc Gasol: Read more

NBA Gambling Alert: Oklahoma City welcomes back Kevin Durant

12.02.2014     03:00 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
KD is back, bettors. Kevin Durant is expected to see the floor in tonight's game against New Orleans. Durant has yet to play this season after fracturing a bone in his foot back in mid-October. The Thunder, who just welcomed back Russell Westbrook, are 5-12 SU but 10-7 ATS. OKC opened as 2-point favorites vs. the Pelicans but were just recently bet up to -3 across the board.

"Just excited to get back out there with my teammates," Durant said Tuesday. "It's been a long 6½ weeks just trying to get better and get my foot right. The training staff did a great job, so I'm just looking forward to playing tonight.

"I know it's going to be a little bit different for me not having played ... and then going out there and playing the highest level of basketball. But I'm looking forward to going out there and seeing where I am and playing as hard as I can for my team."

Teddy Covers' Las Vegas Wiseguy Report: Early season NBA betting trends

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
We’re more than a month into the young NBA season, and there are numerous trends that have begun to rear their heads, offering the potential for continued returns throughout the course of the season.  In this week’s Vegas Wiseguy Report, I’ll be putting some of these early season teams and angles that have been moneymakers thusfar under the microscope, assessing their potential continued profitability as the calendar turns to December.

Let me start with a pair of totals trends that have been cashing winning bet after winning bet through the first month of the campaign.  The high scoring, no-defense  Houston Rockets are 14-3 to the Under, followed closely by Oklahoma City at 13-4 to the Under.  Oklahoma City’s Under run makes more short term sense – they’ve been playing without their two superstars Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, although Westbrook returned to the lineup last w eek and Durant is expected to follow in the near future.  The Thunder have relied heavily on their defense, slowing down the pace and keeping opponents out of the paint with Serge Ibaka and seven footers Kendrick Perkins and Steven Read more

NBA Handicapping: Scott says lineup changes coming for Lakers

12.01.2014     11:54 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Los Angeles head coach Byron Scott hinted that he may make some upcoming lineup changes. Not sure exactly what changes can be made based on the current roster. The Lakers are currently 4-13 straight up but somehow, someway 8-8-1 against the spread. In fact, despite winning only 31 percent of their games dating back to the start of last season, the Lakers are a dead even 48-48-2 ATS while fellow bottom feeders Philadelphia, Utah, and Orlando have covered around 43 percent of their games during that span.

Mark Cuban makes fun of NFL's archaic stance on sports betting

11.24.2014     12:09 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Mark Cuban spitting knowledge...

“I agree 100 percent,” Cuban said Saturday, via Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com.  “I think we’re the world’s biggest hypocrites when we say, ‘Oh, we don’t want you betting on our games,’ and then we get all excited about the sports betting line and people go to Vegas on trips won from the NBA or NFL.  I mean, it’s hugely hypocritical.”

“We’ll charge the casinos for information sources, video sources,” Cuban said.  “All you’ve got to do is look overseas.  You can go and legally bet on the NBA in the U.K. and a bunch of other countries, and they’re actually big customers of NBA video. . . .  So you’ve got a template already that’s legal in the rest of the world other than America.”
