Tonight we’ll fire a Fairway Free play in the Battle of the Bay. Oakland hosts San Francisco and both teams enter 2-0. Note that both defenses have controlled play in their early preseason contests, as San Francisco held Minnesota to just 3 points and under 150 total yards until a late TD scramble by fourth-string QB Joe Webb. Prior to that, the 49ers defense held the Colts to just 235 yards total offense and 3.5 yards- per-play. Atlanta Braves continue late-inning heroics

The Braves continued their late-inning heroics Monday night as Atlanta rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the dumbfounded Dodgers 4-3. It’s uncanny how the LA Dodgers continue to find ways to lose ballgames, and quite the opposite for the Braves. With Atlanta's last-inning win, the Braves posted their major-league-leading 20th final at-bat victory.
Atlanta also leads the majors with 207 runs in the seventh inning or later and the Braves are a major-league-best 42-16 (.724) at home this season. With 23 home games remaining, the Braves have already topped their home victory total for the 2009 season (40-41) and currently lead the Phillies by 2.5 games in the NL East.

Apparently Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino isn't in the best of moods. Local reporter Renee Gork was
recently fired for wearing a Florida Gators hat
to a press conference. When Gork asked Petrino a question, he responded but said, "And that will be the last question I answer with that hat on." The Dodgers have been burning money and losing lots of ground in the NL West since the All-Star break. Los Angeles is just 2-12 their last 14 road games and the losses seem to get uglier. Last night LA suffered another tough setback losing 1-0 at Atlanta. All-Star closer Jonathan Broxton has lost his confidence and lost his closer job for now. Broxton has a 9.87 ERA his last 14 appearances. Questions arise about the mental makeup of this team, but no doubting the confidence level of LA starter Ted Lilly. The newly acquired left-hander has been terrific in two starts for the Dodgers, allowing just 3 runs and 7 hits in 13 innings while striking out 11 with no walks. Lilly has a .218 ERA his last five starts and Braves batters are not likely to have success against the solid veteran left-hander. Back in June I suffered some tough low-scoring losses when teams I played against generated few hits and little offense. We still provided a profitable month and then suffered some similar setbacks in July before finishing the month with nearly +7 units of MLB profits. As I looked back on July 3rd we had the ugly Astros at a big plus price and they out-hit the Padres but lost 1-0 as San Diego managed just five hits. The Astros (47-63) improved and managed to go 13-11 in July and produce profits for baseball bettors with the balls to bet ‘em. Houston is now even money for the season despite a big losing record. We took another hit in late July when the Brewers managed just three hits yet beat the Reds 3-2. True to form, the brutal Brewers then lost five straight games; all by at least three runs.
