College Football Handicapping: Oregon tries to rebound for Civil War

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Oregon State at Oregon -21.5 O/U 67.5

Another team saying all the right things as Oregon doesn't think it will take much to get up for Friday's Civil War vs. Oregon State. Following Stanford's loss to USC, the Ducks were back in control of the PAC-12 North but laid an egg last week in Tucson, 42-16. Oregon has won five straight (3-1-1 ATS) Civil War contests.

“Really good day. Really good response.’’ Helfrich said of Monday’s practice. “We had great energy, we worked really hard ... Our guys came out with a bounce in their step.’’

“I think the message has been ‘Man up.’ You have to move on,’’ Lowe said. “Football is a crazy sport. If you don’t come with your A-game, you are going to get beat. We learned that the hard way. But you have to move on. Read more

Tennessee -4 at Kentucky O/U 53

After a brutal home loss to rival Vanderbilt that saw its postseason hopes squashed, Tennessee (4-7) is saying all the right things heading into Saturday's game a Kentucky.

"We have to prove we can go on the road and win football games, and we have a lot to play for," said Jones.

"If you are a competitor, it's another opportunity to compete, another opportunity to represent Tennessee," said Jones. "We have one opportunity left as Team 117, as a football family, then we're moving on to next year."

Rutgers -3 at Connecticut

Things have come off the rails for Rutgers (5-5) who after starting 4-1 are in danger of not making the postseason. They'll get two cracks at becoming bowl eligible with games at UConn and vs. South Florida. Head coach Kyle Flood announced that senior Chas Dodd will start Saturday's game against the Huskies. Dodd started a handful of games during the 2011 season. He'll replace Gary Nova who finished 11-of-34 for 107 yards and a pick against UCF. The week prior to that he completed 47% of his passes to go with two INTs vs. Cincinnati.

College Football Handicapping: Week 13 Injury Report

11.21.2013     04:26 PM     Brian Edwards     Printer Friendly
Submitted by Brian Edwards

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Utah quarterback Travis Wilson is out for the rest of the season and his career could be in jeopardy after he sustained a concussion two weeks ago in a 20-19 home loss to Arizona St. Wilson finished 2013 with a 16-16 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Utes’ sophomore Adam Schulz started in last week’s 44-21 loss at Oregon, completing 13-of-30 passes for 181 yards with one TD and one interception. In four games this year, Schulz has connected on just 35-of-75 throws (46.7%) for 428 yards with a 2-2 TD-INT ratio.

Florida QB Tyler Murphy is ‘questionable’ vs. Georgia Southern due to a shoulder injury. Making his first career start and taking his first snap at the collegiate level last week, Sklyer Mornhinweg completed 10-of-13 passes for 107 yards in a 19-14 loss at South Carolina. UF didn’t put too much on his plate with most of his throws consisting of screen passes and short patterns. However, the redshirt freshman should be credited for being accurate and only making one mistake, an interception on the final drive with just over one minute remaining. The Gators are favored by 28 against the Eagles.
