(3:00 PT) Braxton Miller update. Not too sharp passing the football: 3-of-7, 57 yards though two went for touchdowns. He is OSU's leading rusher with 83 yards as they lead 34-10 over Colorado.

(2:33 PT) The comedy of errors continues....ECU toss a pick six, UAB now up 17-14. Five turnovers for the Pirates. Two of Davis' five incompletions have been INTs.

(2:23 PT) Rob Veno recommends Texas A&M Over 31.5 second half.

(2:19 PT) Brent Crow recommends Oklahoma State pk 2nd half.

(2:18 PT) Erin Rynning recommends Virginia Tech under 23.5 2nd half.

(2:14 PT)  Teddy Covers recommends Oklahoma State pk 2nd half.

(2:11 PT) Oklahoma State averaged 28.7 point per first half its first three games. Held to a lone FG as A&M heads to half up 20-3.

(2:08 PT) The Zooker!!! Western Michigan up 13-10 at Illinois nearing halftime.

(1:48 PT) Jacory Harris gets caught texting with a K-State DB that he's going to throw it his way....interception and the Cats are in business.

(1:45 PT) Miami a little sluggish after win over Buckeyes....K-State up 14-3. (Playing at Sun Life Stadium....baseball dirt and the grass is already torn up)

(1:36 PT) Texas A&M dialed in....up 17-3 on Oklahoma State early in the second quarter.

(1:32 PT) Holy line move Batman Part II: Fresno opened -6 and now down to a pick 'em at Idaho.

(1:30 PT) C-USA at its finest....UAB with another turnover in ECU territory giving both teams SIX with 10:22 to go in the first half.

NCAAF Betting: Rebuilding projects UNLV and Washington State meet

UNLV at Washington State -13.5- O/U 55

Washington State has won six games the past 3+ season’s following its opening week blowout win over Idaho State, 64-21. Meanwhile, UNLV was getting dismantled on the road again, losing at Wisconsin 51-17 after the Badgers pulled their starters after leading 51-3. The Rebels have topped two wins just once over the last six years.

How bad is UNLV?  Well, the Rebels are on a 0-11 SU and 1-10 ATS run on the road as underdog following last week’s fortunate +35 backdoor cover in Madison. Many games are hardly competitive, and UNLV has been unable the cover big spreads the past two seasons. Just 3-23 SU on the road since 2007; check out these scores in defeat...

UNLV at Washington State -14 O/U 55.5

Informative article of what to expect moving forward with Washington State back-up quarterback Marshall Lobbestael who will fill in for Jeff Tuel (out 6-8 weeks, collarbone). The loss of Tuel on the surface appears big because he is one of only a handful of truly PAC-12 caliber players on the Cougs’ roster. Lobbestael played much of last week's game against FCS Idaho State, finishing 14-of-19 for 230 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs. He's a senior and has experience having started a handful of games his first two seasons before Tuel established himself as the No. 1 last year. Lobbestael will have a chance to shine at home on Saturday Read more

UNLV at Wisconsin -34.5 O/U 56.5

The clock is ticking towards kickoff tonight and we’re in action at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison as the Wisconsin Badgers open the season as a monster 35-point favorite over Las Vegas’ own UNLV Rebels. Tonight’s tilt is not expected to be close, and recent results and records from the past two seasons suggest a blowout. However, there is much more to the pointspread puzzle as you shoot for profits this football season. UNLV has a long ways to go in rebuilding their program under second-year coach Bobby Hauck. The Rebels were 0-7 ATS as road underdog last season, losing to the pointspread by over 14 points per game (ppg). Wisconsin finished last season on a 7-0 ATS run; Read more

UNLV at Wisconsin (Thursday, 5 pm PT – ESPN)
CRIS Opening Line:
Wisconsin -35 O/U 54.5
CRIS Current Line: Wisconsin -35 O/U 56
Rob Veno Power Rating: Wisconsin -33.5
Teddy Covers Power Rating: Wisconsin -40.5

Marty Otto’s Betting Take: The Rebels travel east to begin the season with a primetime ESPN tilt. This is a return matchup from last season where Wisconsin won in Las Vegas, 41-21. The score looked closer than the actual play on the field – Wisconsin outgained UNLV by 258 yards – but the spread was very much in play (plenty of 20 and 20.5 available). Of course the big news this offseason in Madison was the transfer of Russell Wilson from NC State and the dynamic rushing Read more

Larry Johnson and Greg Anthony walk into a casino...

08.02.2011     06:40 AM     Printer Friendly
Straight from the source. Former UNLV star Larry Johnson discusses his first and reportedly only casino experience while playing for the Runnin' Rebels.

"Gambling wasn’t a temptation to me, said Johnson, who wasn’t even aware UNLV games could be wagered on in sports books. "Me and Greg had about $60 between us. We were about to eat and go catch a show. Greg is from Vegas and wanted to stop at one of the casinos. He put like $20 on blackjack and ended up winning $40.

"Greg then turned that $60 into $100 and I thought it was pretty neat to see that happen in just four or five minutes," Johnson said. "That was the extent of my gambling the two years I was here."

Cantor Gaming offers UNLV's Season O/U Wins at 3

07.19.2011     11:09 AM     Printer Friendly
College Football Regular Season Over/Under Wins are expected to be posted here in the next few weeks. Las Vegas’ Cantor Gaming sportsbooks however is offering hometown favorite UNLV’s number. Not looking good for Bobby Hauck’s squad with O/U 3o+105-3u-125 wins. The Rebels return 11 starters from last year’s 2-11 squad (both wins were against teams UNLV will play on the road in 2011).

Four wins to lose a bet on the over. We have a hard time projecting UNLV to be favored in more than two games.

Sunday NCAA Tournament – Game analysis, ATS notes and insight from Fairway Jay

Virginia Commonwealth vs. Purdue -9.5 O/U 135
Purdue (26-7) provided us a point-spread winner and bankroll boost on Friday in their 65-43 destruction of St. Peters.  Now the Boilermakers battle VCU (25-11), who shocked Georgetown 74-56 for their second-straight NCAA Tournament upset win. That triggers a proven and profitable profile on Purdue to take out this upstart underdog.   Recall that VCU finished the regular season on a 1-4 SU and ATS run and lost in the Colonial Conference Tournament finals. The Rams full court game and pressure won’t work well enough against a Boilers team that turned the ball over less than 10 times per game in Big Ten play. Better defensive team is Purdue, and head coaching no contest with Painter over ‘not so’ Smart. Anticipate the powerful and productive inside/outside combination of All-Big Ten senior performers JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Read more

Luck of the draw or lack thereof a big factor for tournament teams

03.15.2011     11:50 AM     Printer Friendly
Interesting article from New York Times columnist and stat guru Nate Silver breaking down the luck factor of the NCAA Tournament. According to Silver’s study, UNLV, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Washington received the "unluckiest draws" while Florida, San Diego State, Pittsburgh and Kansas earned the "luckiest draws". Silver uses various formulas to uncover where teams should be seeded based on their RPI/Sagarin/Ken Pomeroy numbers. UNLV for example was 22nd in Sagarin and 25th in the RPI which is correlative to a No. 5 or No. 6 seed rather than No. 8. The Rebels drew No. 9 Illinois in the first round with the winner taking on Kansas – assuming the Jayhawks beat Boston U.
