College Football Gambling News: Saban pleased with Kiffin's first game as OC

09.02.2014     07:35 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Alabama racked up 538 yards but settled for four field goals in Saturday's 33-22 win over West Virginia. It was offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin's debut for the Crimson Tide and Nick Saban wants everyone to know he "did a great job."

"You know, the guy is a really good coach now, all right," Saban said. "Y'all need to fess up to that. And most places that don't like him is because he left and they were mad because he left. They weren't mad about anything he did while he was there.  Just do a little research on that."

"Some people have a tremendous amount of knowledge, but you have to be able to articulate it to the players in a way they can understand it and it's simple for them to go out and execute it," Saban said earlier in the month. "Systematically, Lane does that with the players he coaches and with the entire offense, which I think is really, really important."

College Football Handicapping: Golden Nugget GOY vs. CRIS - Week 2

09.02.2014     07:23 AM     Printer Friendly
We've been doing this exercise for years comparing Golden Nugget's Game of the Year lines vs. the current market. It's a great tool to spot changes in perception from oddsmakers and the betting markets. It also shows the impact injuries can have: Texas was -6 vs. BYU with David Ash during the summer and now -3.5 with Ash out with a concussion. Same deal for Ohio State: -18 vs. Virginia Tech with Braxton Miller and -11 without.

College Football Betting Preview: Clemson Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs

Clemson at Georgia
Saturday, 2:30 pm PT -ESPN
CRIS Opener:
Georgia -8.5 O/U 58
CRIS Current: Georgia -7.5 O/U 54
Brent's Recommendation: Under

Last year’s season opening matchup produced one of the most exciting games of the year, a wild 38-35 Clemson win. Many of the key participants from that game are gone, however, as both teams look for replacements. For Clemson, three-year starting quarterback Tajh Boyd graduated and Cole Stoudt gets the nod as his replacement. Stoudt has freshman Deshaun Watson behind him and it looks like both quarterbacks will see action in the opener. Also missing for the Tigers are their top two wide receivers, including the 4th pick in the NFL draft, Sammy Watkins. Making it even worse is the loss of 1,000 rusher Roderick McDowell at running back. The offensive line also has two new starters and just 25 career starts among the returnees.

Luckily for Clemson, the Georgia defense Read more
