According to oddsmakers, Peyton Manning's future looks pretty bleak

02.08.2012     12:23 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Peyton Manning retire after he just watched his brother win a second Super Bowl title? He'll use popsicle sticks and duct tape to help support that gimpy neck of his before he calls it quits, right? Cal-Neva posted odds on were Peyton will end up next season. Topping the list is retirement, Miami, Washington or staying in Indy. That is the equivalent of death by boredom, drowning, plane crash and fire ants (the fire ants being the Colts of course).

Super Bowl XLVI Gambling Recap: Key plays swing mathematical chances for both sides

If you want to relive Super Bowl XLVI one last time, here is an article explaining the win probability of the New England Patriots had Wes Welker hauled in that fourth quarter pass. If we are reading it correctly, a completed pass would have given the Pats at 95% chance at victory whereas the drop put them at 65%.

Bettor who cashed in on Super Bowl safety donates winning to charity

UPDATE

Well isn't this nice. The dude who won the Safety Will Be the First Score bet during Super Bowl XLVI is donating his earnings ($50K) to charity.

"We celebrated for at least 10 minutes in complete mayhem," Rechnitz said with a laugh, "And my friends believed the bet was going to go viral!"

Here's the catch: Rechnitz said he doesn't believe in gambling as a means of earning income. "It's just something I did for fun, so I'm donating all of the money to charity," he said.

Tom Brady's intentional grounding/safety won this dude a lot of money

Handicapper Fairway Jay: Super Sunday part of Fantastic February

We nailed our top-play 20*Big Drive winner on the New York Giants and their Super Bowl XLVI win over the New England Patriots, 21-17. While I also projected a higher-scoring game, field position did not allow for more points despite over 750 yards offense and both teams moving the ball pretty well at 5.6 yards per play. The Giants ability to control the ball, clock (37 minutes) and chains kept New England’s potent pass attack on the sidelines and Eli Manning led another fourth quarter touchdown drive to clinch the victory.

New York’s victory completed a strong pointspread prognosis finish in the NFL playoffs as we went a perfect 6-0 on our top-rated Big Drive selections and capped of another winning season overall. If was our fourth straight profitable postseason.

On to the hardwood and fantastic finishes ahead in college basketball as teams shoot for regular season and conference tournament titles along with their push to and through the NCAA Tournament and other college basketball postseason tournaments.   This is the most exciting time of the year in college basketball, along with strong handicapping situations involving second meets, Read more

Nevada sportsbooks predicting small profit from Super Bowl XLVI

02.06.2012     07:10 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Late money on the New England Patriots and a low scoring affair has Nevada sportsbooks calling for a small profit from Super Bowl XLVI.

“The late rush was on the Patriots, which bailed us out,” said Jimmy Vaccaro, director of sports operations at Lucky’s Race & Sports Book in Las Vegas. “The general public was in love with this Giants team and you found out a reason why they’ve been riding them for the past eight weeks.”

“Everything together made us a fair winner for the day,” Vaccaro said in a telephone interview. “It wasn’t as bad as it was three days ago. The Patriot money did show and the line went back to three in most casinos, telling you there was plenty of Patriots money.”

Super Bowl XLVI Gambling Recap: Sportsbooks hit hard by early safety

02.06.2012     07:06 AM     Printer Friendly
Las Vegas' MGM sportsbook started Super Bowl XLVI down $250K after Tom Brady's safety resulted in the first points on the game.

“Add that up and we started off a quarter-million in the hole,” said Jay Rood, sports book director of MGM Resorts International. “That wasn’t any good.”

Poker player Phil Hellmuth made a few bets involving the Patriots and the Over. It didn't work out so well.

The 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Tweeted: "Lost EVERY Super Bowl bet: 8 out of 8.

"Apparently, I like records: set my personal record for biggest loss on one game: $21k plus juice."
