College Football Betting Preview: Louisville Cardinals at Notre Dame Fighting Irish

11.19.2014     07:39 AM     Andrew Lange     Printer Friendly
Submitted by Andrew Lange

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Louisville at Notre Dame
Saturday, 12:30 pm PT - NBC
CRIS Opener:
Notre Dame -4.5 O/U 54.5
CRIS Current: Notre Dame -3.5 O/U 53
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Notre Dame -5.5
Andrew Lange's Recommendation: See analysis

I've mentioned on multiple occasions that Louisville's defense, while certainly stout, has benefited greatly from a weak slate of opposing offenses and quarterbacks. The only truly potent offense and quarterback combo the Cardinals have faced is Florida State who racked up 42 points and 574 yards. From a total offense standpoint, at 28th nationally, Notre Dame will mark the "best" offense UL has faced to date. Most, including myself, would probably take the Seminoles' offense over the Irish but the point remains that unlike a majority of Louisville's opposition, Notre Dame has proven capable of moving the football.

But while moving the football hasn't been a Read more

College Football Betting Preview: Northern Illinois Huskies at Ohio Bobcats

Northern Illinois at Ohio
Tuesday, 5 pm PT - ESPNU
CRIS Opener:
Northern Illinois -4 O/U 51
CRIS Current: Northern Illinois -2.5 O/U 50.5
Drew Martin's Recommendation: Northern Illinois

The Ohio Bobcats play host the Northern Illinois Huskies tonight on ESPNU. The Bobcat faithful will participate in a blackout at Peden Stadium at the team looks to become bowl eligible for the sixth straight year. The Huskies also have something at stake; a win this week and next week vs. Western Michigan will earn them a spot in the MAC Championship.

The Huskies have won 41 of their last 42 games when allowing 24 points or less; a stat that could come into play with the temperatures in Athens projected to be in the 20’s with a chance of snow flurries. The NIU offensive line, which features five players with 151 combined starts, has not allowed a sack in five games this season. They Read more

College Football Beting: Former Texas Tech DC accused of treason

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Can we interest you in the story of an alleged disgruntled former defensive coordinator giving away info on play calls? Enjoy...

“They have,” Smith said. “They have been passed around. ... I know other coaches have called and our signals have been passed around the whole time. All I know is karma’s a bad deal.

“I don’t want to get into what’s going on with all that, but it’s not right and, to me, it’s not fair to the kids. So if that’s how that person wants to handle business, they can handle business that way. I sure hope I don’t run into him anytime soon.”

College Footbal Betting Preview: Florida State Seminoles at Miami Hurricanes

Florida State at Miami (FL)
Saturday, 5 pm PT - ABC
CRIS Opener:
Florida State -2.5 O/U 61.5
CRIS Current: Florida State -2.5 O/U 63
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Florida State -6
Rob Veno's Recommendation: Florida State

We saw Florida State in nearly exact situation a couple weeks back when they were very short road favorites at Louisville. The Cardinals offense was back to full strength and the pointspread tumbled from an opener of -7 to -3.5. The Seminoles have been a severe money burner to this point in the season posting a 2-7 ATS mark laying -9.5 or more in eight of their nine games. While the heavy price tags have been nearly impossible to cover, we all saw the Louisville result which makes it very difficult to fade FSU in a game they just have to win by a field goal. My power ratings list Florida State as -6 which again screams of déjà vu since they had the ‘Noles Read more

College Football Betting Preview: Missouri Tigers at Texas A&M Aggies

Saturday, 4:30 pm PT - SEC
CRIS Opener:
Texas A&M -5.5 O/U 58
CRIS Current: Texas A&M -4.5 O/U 57.5
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Texas A&M -4
Paul Stone's Recommendation: Missouri

With quarterback Kenny Hill suspended and off of a lackluster five-point win over Louisiana-Monroe, the Texas A&M Aggies seemed to be an easy mark last week for the homestanding and third-ranked Auburn Tigers.

But in stepped the beauty and unpredictability of college football.

Off of three straight decisive losses to SEC West royalty and a near defeat to Louisiana-Monroe, the Aggies shocked Auburn, 41-38, essentially ending the Tigers' hopes of landing a berth in college football's inaugural four-team playoff.

The game's biggest play arguably occurred on the first half's final snap when A&M true freshman Myles Garrett stormed through to block a Read more

College Basketball Handicapping: Returning Starter Breakdown

11.14.2014     07:21 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Below is a list of teams with zero or five returning starters according to Blue Ribbon. Two schools of thought: with all the transferring going on these days it is easy to have no returning starters but in reality possess a fair amount of experience with guys that started or played significant minutes at their previous school. Second, five returning starters like 18+ returning starters in football is often overvalued in the betting markets. Is five returning starters for Southern Utah a good thing? If they don't have at least a few new recruits starting then we would say no even when you account for natural year-to-year improvement.

College Football Betting Preview: Auburn Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs

Auburn at Georgia
Saturday, 4:15 pm PT - ESPN
CRIS Opener:
Georgia -2 O/U 67.5
CRIS Current: Georgia -2 O/U 69.5
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Georgia -1.5
Ian Cameron's Recommendation: Over

Auburn will try to shake off a stunning home loss to Texas A&M as it travels to Athens to take on Georgia. These teams played a thriller last season; famous the “immaculate deflection” when a tipped pass ended up in the hands of Auburn’s Ricardo Louis for the game winning touchdown. These teams combined for nearly 1,100 total yards and even though Georgia no longer has Aaron Murray the offense is very capable of putting up points, especially with Todd Gurley back from suspension. In Gurley’s absence, the Bulldogs still made out fine as Nick Chubb rushed for 671 yards, including four consecutive games of 143 or more yards, and five touchdowns. The passing game has come alive as well with 573 Read more
