New Mexico Bowl - Albuquerque, NM
Saturday, December 15, 10 am PT - ESPN
Nevada vs. Arizona
CRIS Opener:
Arizona -9 O/U 76
CRIS Current: Arizona -9 O/U 77
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Arizona -11.5

Run through all 70 bowl teams and you’d have a hard time coming up with many worse than Arizona when it comes to stopping the competition. However, it appears the Wildcats lucked out by drawing Nevada in this year’s New Mexico Bowl. Of teams playing in the postseason, only Baylor was worse than the Wolf Pack at stopping teams on third down. Keep in mind the Bears played the 4th toughest schedule in the country, while Nevada played the 113th. And in looking at Nevada’s schedule, only Fresno State compares to Arizona from a yards-per-game perspective and the Bulldogs hung 52 on the Wolf Pack.

The turning point in Nevada's season was the overtime loss to San Read more

College Football Betting: Georgia still bummed about loss to Alabama

12.13.2012     06:56 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Nebraska vs. Georgia -10 O/U 60

Sounds as if Georgia is still licking its wounds following the heartbreaking loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship. Still plenty of time until the Capital One Bowl (Jan. 1) but it could be tricky laying double-digits with a team that may not be able to bring its ‘A’ game.

“It was the toughest loss I’ve ever been a part of,” said senior receiver Tavarres King.

“We want to be a team that finished, we don’t want to be a great team that just gave up and laid down because their ultimate goal didn’t happen,” Robinson said. “We were five yards from being somewhere else but we don’t want to show that we weren’t worthy of it by not finishing.”

“I dreaded watching it, but I did,” Read more

College Football Betting: BYU quarterback Nelson still not fully healed

12.12.2012     02:33 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
BYU -2.5 at San Diego State O/U 48.5

A week from tomorrow is the Poinsettia Bowl and as of now BYU’s coaches don’t feel that quarterback Riley Nelson is healthy enough to play. Nelson hurt his ribs against San Jose State and missed the season finale against New Mexico State. Backup James Lark threw for 384 yards and six touchdowns against the Aggies. The coaches may however be playing coy and a few quotes from Riley hint that the senior will find a way to be out there.

"Riley's not healthy enough right now to be considered as the starter yet," said coach Bronco Mendenhall. "At this point, we have to plan on James working and going forward and then wait to see where Riley catches up. We've got time."

"He's not 100 percent yet," offensive Read more

College Football Handicapping: Oregon State mum on starting QB for Alamo Bowl

12.12.2012     07:39 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Oregon State -2 vs. Texas O/U 57

With game day still two weeks away, Oregon State is in no rush to name a starting quarterback for its Alamo Bowl matchup against Texas. Cody Vaz and Sean Mannion have split time with the first-string in practice.

Season-to-date statistics
Mannion: 200-310, 64.5% 2,446 yards, 15 TDs, 13 INTs
Vaz: 94-157, 59.9%, 1,286 yards, 11 TDs, 1 INT

"It's going to be like this with these two,'' said Langsdorf, who sounded like he's warming up to the two-quarterback idea. "They're both playing good football. They're both deserving of playing. We're going to let them take even reps.''

"It's good competition for them,'' Langsdorf said. "We're going to let it play out a little bit, give them a lot of work and come up with a plan here after a few days of Read more

College Football Betting: Northwestern looks to snap postseason losing streak

12.12.2012     07:10 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Northwestern vs. Mississippi State -2 O/U 51.5

Northwestern says it's highly motivated to snap its postseason losing streak. The Wildcats have lost four straight bowl games (3-1 ATS) heading into their Gator Bowl matchup against Mississippi State.

"It's a clean slate," Fitzgerald said. "You look back at our performances over the last four [bowl games], we could have won all four games; we didn't. That's frustrating and motivating. But that's got nothing to do with this team or where we're at right now."

"The one thing that matters is win," said Colter. "We really want to leave this legacy strong as being one of the best teams Northwestern has ever had, and finally get that monkey off our backs."
