College Football Betting Preview: New Mexico State Aggies at UTEP Miners

CRIS Opener:
UTEP -10.5 O/U 62.5
CRIS Current: UTEP -10 O/U 56
Rob Veno’s Power Rating: UTEP -10
Drew Martin’s Recommendation: UTEP

In the 92nd edition of the Battle of I-10, UTEP will play host to New Mexico State on Saturday night in the Sun Bowl. The undefeated New Mexico State Aggies will make the journey from Las Cruces to El Paso in an attempt to win for the first time in this rivalry since 2008. As we dig into this out-of-conference matchup, we uncover some reasons to be skeptical of the undefeated underdog.

New Mexico State opened its season playing host to Cal Poly. The Aggies got the win, but it took until the middle of the fourth quarter to put Poly away with the final score being 28-10. The Aggies then went on the road in Week 2 in a conference matchup against Georgia State and came out of the Georgia Dome with a Read more

College Footbal Betting Preview: Georgia Bulldogs at South Carolina Gamecocks

Georgia at South Carolina
Saturday, 12:30 pm PT - CBS
CRIS Opener:
Georgia -5.5 O/U 58.5
CRIS Current: Georgia -6.5 O/U 59.5
Rob Veno's Power Rating: South Carolina -0.5
Paul Stone's Recommendation: South Carolina

Prior to the opening whistle of the 2014 season just two weeks ago, the South Carolina Gamecocks were the consensus choice to win the SEC East despite the loss of gritty veteran quarterback Conner Shaw and a trio of defensive line war daddies headlined by the top overall pick in this past spring's NFL Draft, Jadeveon Clowney.

Fast forward to this weekend and the 1-1 Gamecocks suddenly see themselves cast as a six-point home underdog to neighboring rival Georgia.

South Carolina's season got off to a shaky beginning two weeks ago as Texas A&M and new quarterback Kenny Hill torched the Gamecocks, 52-28, in front of a Thursday night national television Read more

College Football Betting News: Baylor's Petty will play vs. Buffalo

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Baylor -34 at Buffalo O/U 69.5

Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty will play tonight after missing last week's game with two broken bones in his back. It is a questionable move considering Baylor won last week 70-6 without Petty and are 34-point road favorites tonight vs. Buffalo. The Bears have a bye week upcoming before opening Big XII play at Iowa State.

UCLA vs. Texas (Arlington)
Saturday, 5 pm PT - FOX
CRIS Opener:
UCLA -7 O/U 54
CRIS Current: UCLA -7 O/U 50
Rob Veno's Recommendation: UCLA -2.5
Ian Cameron's Recommendation: UCLA

We will try to provide a third straight college football free play winner this week with the UCLA Bruins laying a touchdown as they face the Texas Longhorns in Arlington. I’m not eager to support either one of these teams at the moment but the Bruins despite their shaky first two performances in closer than expected wins at Virginia and at home against Memphis are still the more talented and certainly the healthier team entering this non-conference clash.

Texas is dealing with plenty of injury concerns particularly on offense and those personnel issues showed in last week’s 41-7 drubbing at the hands of BYU. The Longhorns have already lost QB David Ash and without him, dating back to last season, the Read more

College Footbal Betting Preview: UCF Knights at Missouri Tigers

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Central Florida at Missouri
Saturday, 9 am PT - SEC
CRIS Opener:
Missouri -10 O/U 56
CRIS CUrrent: Missouri -10 O/U 54.5
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Missouri -5
Rob Veno's Recommendation: Central Florida

I appear to have a totally different opinion on Missouri compared to oddsmakers and other bettors. Last week Mizzou stood out as my top power ratings play of the week, yet the opening line reflected a much different opinion. From there the pro-Toledo and anti-Missouri money poured in and left Missouri -3 at game time. The dominant Tigers performance seems to have them back in the good graces of the betting community because they are listed at -10 this week in a game which my power ratings show them to be -5.

Central Florida is off a bye week after losing a close one to Penn State in Ireland in Week 1. The extra time has helped to heal injuries for key personnel like starting RB Read more

Sportsmemo Handicapper Rob Veno has been creating his own Power Ratings for nearly two decades. His numbers are very well respected and an excellent tool for discovering value. Rob’s PRs are a baseline and do not include key injuries or situations but they also don't overreact as much as the betting markets do week to week. Below is a chart of CRIS's current lines and Rob's College Football Power Ratings for Week 3.
