College Football Betting Preview: Florida Gators at Florida State Seminoles

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Florida at Florida State
Ian Cameron's Recommendation:
Florida State
Saturday, 12:30 pm PT - ABC
CRIS Opener:
Florida State -8
CRIS Current: Florida State -8.5
Rob Veno's Power Rating: Florida State -5.5

The Florida Gators have put together a strong season and are still hanging by a thread in the BCS Championship hunt – they need A LOT to go their way to have a shot. They do however appear to be running out of gas and coupled with some key injuries, are not in the best of situations for their rivalry tilt against Florida State.

The numbers certainly back up my theory on Florida’s regression. It all started when they suffered their first loss of the season against Georgia, 17-9. It was a turnover plagued, lethargic performance and the Gators have yet to truly rebound. Since then, they squeaked out a pair of seven-point home wins against Missouri and UL-Lafayette. It took Read more

UPDATE

Notre Dame -6.5 at USC

Yesterday afternoon CRIS finally hung a line on Saturday's Notre Dame-USC game. The Irish opened -5 and were immediately bet up to -6.5. There's currently no total on the game.

College Football Handicapping: Bettors expecting letdown from Louisiana Tech

11.21.2012     06:49 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Louisiana Tech at San Jose State -4 O/U 75

The price is certainly reflective of the potential letdown situation for Louisiana Tech's cross-country trek to San Jose State. The Bulldogs fell to Utah State, 48-41, at home last week in what was essentially the WAC title game. San Jose meanwhile took advantage of last week's "down" situation for BYU as the Cougars had just committed to Poinsettia Bowl and had nothing to play for.

"It's a lot of disappointment and a lot of anger," Banks said. "We were so close. It's one of those games where it was hard to keep up, but you've got to keep going because there are more games."

"It's tough. You expect to win," said Tech quarterback Colby Cameron, who was one of 31 seniors to play their last game in Joe Aillet Stadium. "It's not fun to come up Read more

College Football Gambling: Oklahoma defense tries to recover from West Virginia fiasco

11.20.2012     12:30 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Oklahoma State at Oklahoma -7 O/U 72.5

So we are confident that Oklahoma State won't be able to match West Virginia's 778 total yards it racked up against Oklahoma last week. We think...

“Something has to change. We have to come in on Monday with a new attitude,” OU defensive end David King said. “We’re happy that we won. I won’t take that away. But defensive-wise, it’s embarrassing. It’s poor. It’s not how we want to be remembered, especially with next week being the last game for a bunch of seniors.

“We have to come Monday with a whole new attitude about everything. You take the coaching, and you know they’re going to get us pretty harsh. It was embarrassing. I thank the offense for saving our butts today.”

College Football Handicapping: Michigan State seeks bowl eligibility vs. Minnesota

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Michigan State -8 at Minnesota O/U 38

Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio went so far as to say that his team "will win" Saturday at Minnesota. Wisely, he didn't make mention about winning by margin, something the Spartans have had difficulty with this year. Last week marked the seventh straight time an MSU game was decided by four points or less. The Spartans went 2-5 SU/ATS in those contests.

"It's a program game for us, there's no question about that," he said. "It would be our sixth straight bowl game, so it is very significant to the program. We need to be motivated by that fact."

"When we win Saturday and I'll say when Read more

College Football Betting: Texas Tech banged up along offensive line

Texas Tech at Baylor -2.5 O/U 78

Texas Tech with some offensive line concerns heading into Saturday's matchup at Baylor.

“We’ve got five days to figure out a combination to protect and be able to throw,” Tuberville said, “because we’ve got to be able to throw the ball this week — we all know that — to have a chance. But the number-one thing is I don’t want the quarterback on his back every time he throws it.”

Oddsmakers weigh in on potential Notre Dame-Alabama BCS title game

11.19.2012     02:06 PM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
They are already talking about a Notre Dame-Alabama BCS National Championship. Still a lot of football left to be played but let's assume that's the matchup. What's the line? According to Kenny White, Alabama would be -7. Jimmy Vaccaro said he'd make the game -10.5/-11 and with it likely to close around -13.

“Obviously, from a business standpoint, we’re rooting for an Alabama-Notre Dame matchup to become a reality,” Vaccaro told The Linemakers on Sporting News. ”If we get that game with the intrigue already built in between the two storied programs, and the length of time that it will be on the board from early December to almost mid-January, it will be the single biggest handle on any college football game ever booked.”

College Football Handicapping: Penn State's best defender out vs. Wisconsin

Wisconsin at Penn State -3

Penn State's best defender, linebacker Michael Mauti, will miss Saturday's game against Wisconsin due to a knee injury. Projected by some to win Big Ten Defensive POY, Mauti posted big numbers: 95 tackles, three INTs, three forced fumbles and 2.5 sacks.

Notre Dame at USC

Three weeks ago, Notre Dame needed two overtimes to dispose of Pittsburgh. Now the Irish are one game away for a BCS title game berth. And they score a huge break with USC's Matt Barkley ruled out for Saturday's contest. Max Wittek will start in his place. Sportsbooks have yet to post a line on the game. According to Sportsmemo Handicapper Teddy Covers, the Irish project to be at  least a touchdown favorite.
