NFL Handicapping: Comparing Cantor's openers vs. CRIS's current odds

08.17.2012     12:51 PM     Printer Friendly
Here in the Sportsmemo Blog we like to do a lot of line comparisons. Offshore vs. Vegas, openers vs. current numbers, sharp shops vs. square shops, etc. Tracking the changes and differences is a great way to better understanding oddsmakers and the betting markets. Today, we take a look at Cantor Gaming's NFL regular season Week 1 lines from way back in early May and compared them to CRIS's current numbers. Remember, Cantor not only posted Week 1 but also every game through Week 16. Since then, practically every offshore sportsbook has Week 1 posted and bettors have had a crack at seeing every team at least once during the preseason.

As you can see, some games are the same (Chicago vs. Indianapolis and New England at Tennessee) while others came off or where bet to key numbers including the Jets who dropped to -3 against Buffalo. Note that in all four games lined -2 or less, bettors came out in support of the road side (Atlanta, Seattle, Pittsburgh and San Diego).
