The Bills were embarrassed in a monumental way last Sunday losing at home to the Patriots 52-28. Yes, the final score was troubling but the context of blowing a two touchdown lead and being outscored 45-7 down the stretch makes matters much worse. The Bills were expected to be a true playoff contender this season with the addition of the $100 million man, Mario Williams, and the return of Kyle Williams to bolster the defensive line. Well, at 2-2 this team can still be that contender, but defensively they must improve under new coordinator Dave Wannstedt. In addition, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick must quit throwing the opposition the football. Making matters trickier for the offense this weekend will be the expected loss of two injured offensive lineman. Meanwhile, the 49ers took care of business in convincing fashion last week, skunking the Jets 34-0, and showing that team what ground-and-pound is all about. They were hyper-motivated after losing to the Vikings the previous week 24-13. However, it’s still difficult to lay big numbers with the 49ers. This is a team that still has issues scoring touchdowns from inside the 20-yard line after finishing 29th in red zone offense last year, and they aren’t a big play offense. The Bills will run a more conservative offense this week and though it will be tough to generate long drives against this stout 49ers stop unit, we'll look for a low scoring 20-13 type of football game with a play on the road underdog.
