UW-Green Bay -5 at Detroit O/U 165
Detroit has played high-scoring up-tempo basketball for much of the season but of late, the Titans have taken it to the extreme thanks to more emphasis on pressing full court. Three of their last five games have topped the 80-possession mark. They've posted game totals of 181, 158, 194, and 188. The lone "hiccup" was last time out against UW-Milwaukee who plays at an ultra-slow pace (343rd tempo). The Panthers won 73-69 in overtime. I expect to see a return to the norm this afternoon with UW-Green Bay coming to town. The Phoenix aren't as offensively gifted as they were last season but they continue to play ultra-fast; currently first in the Horizon at over 76 possessions per game. These two teams have yet to meet this season but UWG's two games against Youngstown can perhaps serve as a barometer of what to expect. The Penguins are very similar to the Titans; all pace and offense and zero defense. Green Bay beat Youngstown on the road 90-77 and then lost at home 92-89. Both games topped 80 possessions. This is no doubt a rich number but it is warranted. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see at least one team hit the 100-point barrier. Play it over.
