I'm Looking to back the Hurricanes and goaltender Cam Ward after how I've read such positive reviews about his game shape and attitude during Carolina's training camp. I think there is a solid opportunity tonight in front of the national TV audience.
Carolina +110
The Carolina Hurricanes head up to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs team was shaken up yesterday when the public learned that star winger Jason Blake had a rare form of leukemia. "It's an unusual sentence to hear -- the first word is cancer, the next word is leukemia, and then everything should be all right," Toronto coach Paul Maurice was quoted. "I'm not familiar with the condition so it was new that something like this would be as treatable. And for such a positive sentence to come after such a negative sentence, it takes a little while to get your head around it." Early in the season I look for teams that have a defensive lapses to bet against and this Toronto team has given up at least 3 goals in each game they’ve played this season and have not scored on the Power Play going 0 for 17 on the year. So far this season, Carolina goaltender Cam Ward has been outstanding with a save percentage of .946 and a Goals against average of 1.46. The Hurricanes also held the potent Pittsburgh Penguins attack to just one goal. The defensive edge is to Carolina and the Hurricanes should be able to get the win in Toronto tonight. Take the Hurricanes.
Recommendation: Carolina
