Dallas/Columbus Under 5
The Dallas Stars head to Columbus tonight to take on the Blue Jackets and while I had serious questions about the Stars offense heading into this season, some of those questions have been answered but not enough to warrant a play on the over even on this low number. Dallas has scored 2 goals on the road in their first two road games and while Niklas Hagman has been a pleasant surprise scoring five goals in their first six games, the secondary scoring has not been there Jere Lehtinen, Mike Modano and Jussi Jokinen have combined for two goals to start this season. The Stars take on a Blue Jackets team that has been very good at home especially on the defensive side of the puck. Columbus has not allowed a goal in two home games this season with shutout victories over the Anaheim Ducks and Phoenix Coyotes. Young goaltender Pascal Leclaire has had an outstanding start to the season at home posting two shutouts on 60 shots. Columbus’ leading scorer is defensemen Ron Hainsey is leading the team with only two goals and the Blue Jackets have failed to score more then three goals in their last three games. I expect this to be a defensive oriented game. Look for this game to stay UNDER the posted total.
Recommendation: Under 5
