Seattle (Vargas) at Los Angeles (Lackey) O/U -8.5
With three solid starts under his belt, there seems be enough reasons to get involved in this Jason Vargas outing. In his trio of trips to the hill, Vargas has held his own against the powerful offenses of Boston and Texas and then in his most recent start, he dominated the light hitting San Francisco Giants. The bottom line number in all three of his starts is the one earned run he’s allowed in each. However, other numbers are worth noting as he seems to be getting settled in. He recorded an impressive 1.56 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and Seattle stretched him out to 106 pitches against San Francisco after throwing 73 in his initial start and then 97 in his second. Here in Anaheim, where the venue and the opposing lineup are a bit more pitcher friendly than they were when Vargas made his first road start in Texas, expect him to perform well once again. The other side of this pitching equation is John Lackey who had a strong seven-inning effort versus the LA Dodgers last Saturday. These pitchers seem primed to control this contest and post a low scoring final. Recommendation: Under
