At 33-73 and 40 games under .500, Baltimore is once again mired in a terrible season. With 46 games remaining on their schedule they are on pace to end the campaign with a record of 50-112. However when examining the O’s schedule, August looks to be quite manageable as they will play only four games against teams in their division. I project Baltimore to have a profitable month and perhaps even finish August with an above .500 record.
As I watched some of last night’s game against the Angels, the Orioles looked like a different team with Buck Showalter in the dugout. They showed some enthusiasm and played with confidence. With the players aware that Showalter is a proven winner who manages and disciplines in a very meticulous manner, they understand that they must play the game with maximum effort. If an individual player does not respond, Showalter will certainly not include him as part of next season’s plan. As a result, I don’t expect to see any quit in this team over the last two months of the season.
I am going to be personally betting Baltimore in every game this month starting today on August 4. I’ll be putting one unit on the 5-inning line and one unit on the full game line. Here is the schedule for the rest of the month. We’ll update this blog entry with the results throughout the month.
