On yesterday's
Sportsmemo Radio Show, Helmut mentioned that it is difficult to play Providence games under the total because the second halves tend to get out of control. Nowhere was this more apparent than last night against West Virginia.
The Mountaineers built a 69-37 lead with 10 minutes to go. The total closed at 152, which meant over bettors needed 47 points to cash a ticket. Thanks to seven free throws, a couple of three-pointers and 23 points in the last five minutes, the game landed 156.
It is early but in five Big East games, Providence has gone over the total in the second half four times. The lone under was by a half-point. Playing Providence games over the total has always been a moneymaker (10-4 O/U) but keep an eye out for favorable adjusted line second half opportunities. Given the way some of these games have played out, you got a good shot to cash not one but two tickets.
