Rumors of point shaving at Syracuse

Rumors bouncing around the web that a couple players at Syracuse may be involved in some form of point shaving. The Orange are in the midst of an 0-4 SU, 0-4 ATS run, including a historically bad home loss to Seton Hall as 12.5-point favorites. None of the major media outlets have picked up the story so proceed with caution. Guard Scoop Jardine decided to respond via Twitter. He's not happy. The Cuse plays at UConn tonight. More to come...

Scoop Jardine, seemed disgusted by the talk. He responded via Twitter saying, "I love the game itself to much would never jeopardize everything I work so hard for with something like that! I play this game for free!!" He also went on to post on his Twitter, "don't ever disrespect me or my team like that again!!!! I love this game too much to do anything like (the rumors suggested)."

Just in case, here is Jardine's second half performance at Marquette last week. The Orange were two-point underdogs and the game was tied with three minutes to go. It should however be noted that Syracuse was down 11 at half and rallied back.

A reporter at a local TV station reported on his Facebook and Twitter that he had heard from "credible" sources that Scoop was involved in this. It was later found out that his "credible" source was simply a poker forum, in which people were discussing the possibility. Of course this is not a credible source. The reporter has now gone on to delete both his Facebook and Twitter, he is also under review from his television station.

I've been going to games at the Carrier Dome for decades. Seriously guys, Syracuse is "under the microscope" playing prime-time basketball most of the time. Why would any professional think a Jim Boeheim-coached player would ever be permitted to tank a shot or even more than 1 shot. Jim would sit his ass on the bench real fast and ruin his chances to go pro unless he cleaned up his act pretty quick. You think scouts don't talk to Boeheim? I can easily tell these rumors started from a mouth that's never seriously played the game at a high level. I've been in and around the media and can safely say this guy won't be working very long. His credibility just took a permanent nap.
