NCAA Football Betting Notes: New Clemson offense ahead of schedule

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Troy at Clemson -15 O/U -15 O/U 54.5

More positive news out of Clemson camp regarding the development of its new up-tempo offense. First-year offensive coordinator Chad Morris (Tulsa) said the offense was "a little ahead of schedule" with quarterback Tajh Boyd looking extremely sharp. Clemson's highest point total against an FBS opponent last year was a 35-point effort vs. a sub-par North Texas defense. The Tigers appear on track to top that in Week 1 against Troy. The Trojans have had a difficult time stopping BCS Conference foes over the last three seasons: Oklahoma State (41, 55), South Carolina (69), Arkansas (56), Florida (56) and LSU (40).

"I would say we're probably a little ahead of schedule to be honest with you," Morris said Wednesday. "I didn't think they would grasp this much and allow us to progress as fast as we have. It just shows you that they worked extremely hard during the summer."

“Tajh is having a really, really good camp,” Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris said. “This is his second full scrimmage to where he has yet to turn the ball over. … He’s doing a good job managing the game. He doesn’t have to win games for us. Get the ball to our playmakers. That’s what’s so versatile about this offense is we have so many different ways to get the ball to our playmakers.”
