Wayne Rooney's dad cleared of soccer betting charges

Last October, Wayne Rooney's father was arrested in connection with a soccer betting scheme. Today he was officially cleared of all charges.

“Mr Rooney Snr has always vigorously denied the allegations and maintained his innocence throughout the investigation. He is delighted the matter has now concluded.”

Wayne Rooney's dad and seven others were arrested in connection to some sort of soccer betting scheme. There were an unusually high amount of bets placed on there being a red card in a 2010 match between Motherwell and Hearts of the Scottish Premier League. Motherwell player Steve Jennings, who was also arrested, received the red card for "abusive language" towards the ref.
