The picture on your left is not what Milwaukee fans did to Miller Park after yet
another blown save by Trevor Hoffman today -- though we promise there are a few who contemplated the move. Milwaukee’s bullpen is so bad that we might as well put
today’s earlier blog post on an infinite loop. Last Thursday, the
bullpen’s ERA was 5.87; this morning it was 6.16. After today’s implosion, the number jumped to 6.24. On a positive note, those Cincinnati Reds just
continue to win ball games. And as bad as things have been for Brewers, keep in mind that they won their last two games on the 5-inning line; an angle worth considering until the bullpen gets fixed.
Marty Otto passes along these numbers regarding Hoffman:
8 of 14 appearances he allowed at least one run
5 of those he allowed at least two runs
4 of those he allowed at least three runs
Today he didn't retire a single batter and gave up his seventh HR in 13 innings
