Montana State +1.5 at Southern Utah O/U 150
Recommendation: Montana State
Once you get beyond the top three teams in the Big Sky (Weber State, Montana, and Eastern Washington) there is a lot of parity throughout the league. One team that has caught my eye is Montana State who is in its second year under head coach Brian Fish. Last year was a clear rebuild as the Bobcats won only seven games. This year, they've already notched five wins including one over Wyoming and competitive showings against Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State and Buffalo. The schedule has been demanding with only two home games and they open league play on the road but should be rested and ready having not played since December 22. Southern Utah took a step forward last year with a respectable 7-11 league record. It's been a struggle this far however (3-8 SU, 1-7 ATS), especially without the services of their best player AJ Hess who missed the last four games and is doubtful for tonight. MSU's backcourt looks pretty strong with the addition of freshman Tyler Hall. MSU is shooting 38% from three as a team which bodes well against a very weak SUU defense (58% eFG, 345th nationally). MSU struggles as well to defend but the appears to have much more offensive prowess. Montana State looks to have a bright future and capable of finishing in the upper-half of the Big Sky.
