San Diego vs. San Diego State -16.5 O/U 121.5
Can't help but look towards the under in this afternoon's San Diego-San Diego State contest that will take place outdoors in Petco Park. San Diego is probably one of the better places to hold an outdoor game with minimal wind, mild temps per usual the current forecast. But the surroundings and sightlines are still not ideal for scoring. And either is the makeup of both of these squads. San Diego State is once again very hit or miss offensively with subpar percentages and a lot of their damage coming from the free throw line (28.5% of their points, 3rd nationally). San Diego has had a really difficult time scoring this season (58 ppg vs. DI) and you can make a very strong argument the Aztecs are the best defense they've faced. The Toreros are shooting 28% from three and own a 43.7% effective field goal mark. They are also one of the slowest teams in the country at just over 65 possessions per game. Eliminate the environment and you're still in the neighborhood of needing help (fouls, above average shooting) to top 120 points. I just can't imagine playing outdoors is going to positively impact either offense. Play it under.
