College Basketball Betting: Notre Dame seeks better defensive effort

01.07.2016     07:07 AM     Printer Friendly

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Skim through the defensive numbers of Ken Pom's top 50 and you don't see many teams allowing over a point per possession. In fact, only three hold the dubious honor, the worst of which Notre Dame. The Irish are surrendering 1.03 ppp which ranks 196th nationally. Last time out, Notre Dame allowed 77 points on only 58 possessions in a loss at Virginia. No better time than tonight to post a strong defensive effort with Boston College on the slate. The Eagles rank 298th in offensive efficiency.

“We need to raise it on the defensive end,” said junior guard Demetrius Jackson. “It's attention to detail. It's defense as a whole that we've got to get better at and use our abilities, our length and just be better on that end.”

“We've got to go out there and play defense as five, gotta play with more heart, just gotta play harder,” Colson said. “It was a huge reality-check.”
