. Taylor held the same post with the Miami Dolphins last season. His job will be to shore up some of the sloppiness that plagued the Bearcats in 2015. Despite boasting the sixth-best total offense (537.8 ypg) in the country, the Bearcats ranked fifth in the AAC is scoring offense (33.8 ppg). The reason was penalties (123rd, 72.p ypg) and turnovers (124th, 33 lost).
"It starts with minimizing our turnovers," Taylor said Thursday, after UC's morning practice here at Camp Higher Ground. "We’ve got to average less than one turnover per game, and no pre-snap penalties. I think if we can hit those marks, then we set ourselves on a course to hit a lot of our other goals."
"I think as coordinator you're always looking for a 50-50 split," Taylor said. "In some games I’ve been a part of that, you really strive for that, and the game goes the other way. Sometimes you’ve got to throw it a little bit more, sometimes you’ve got to run it a little bit more."
