College Football Gambling: Auburn's offense on the upswing

10.18.2016     07:27 AM     Printer Friendly

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Auburn's offense has looked the part since offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee took over playing calling duties. The Tigers are 3-0 SU/ATS and are averaging 502. ypg and 6.5 ypp.

"I thought he's done an outstanding job," Malzahn said. "I think since that change you can see a difference in our offense with our tempo and just overall moving the football. That's real encouraging moving forward."

"I think we're seeing the identity of this year's team, what we want to be, we're playing with good tempo this year," Lashlee said. "We're averaging between 70 and 80 plays, which is a good clip in our league if you average over 70 plays, that's good. The closer to 80 you get — we've had some games in the 80s — that's good. And we've had some halves like (against Mississippi State) we had 49 or 50 plays; that's a good half.

"It all comes back to execution. We're executing well in the passing game, staying efficient which allows us to stay on the field. Get some tempo going, allows us to run the ball better."
