The concept of the forward pass has been a tough one to grasp for UNLV this season. The Rebels are averaging 136.7 ypg through the air
the second lowest mark in the country from a non-option squad. Starting quarterback Johnny Stanton is still out with a knee injury. Backup Dalton Sneed looked serviceable (147 rushing yards, 8-of-16, 129 yards, 1 TD) in UNLV's 45-20 win over Fresno State but also looked completely overwhelmed against San Diego State (2-of-12, 9 yards, 1 INT). Head coach Tony Sanchez said that Kurt Palandech
a series or two in order to take some of the pressure off of Sneed. Palandech threw for 794 yards last season but completed less than 50% of his passes. UNLV travels to Hawaii this weekend. The Rainbow Warriors were bet up from -4.5 to -9.
“We’re debating whether or not we put him in the first series of the second quarter or put him in the third series,” Sanchez said. “They’re both going to get opportunities. Dalton will get the start, and then at some point Kurt will go in. He will go in for sure.”
