College Football Gambling: UTEP brings back Mike Price because of course it did

10.03.2017     11:50 AM     Printer Friendly

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
In today's That's About Right news we have UTEP deciding to bring back Mike Price after Sean Klugler resigned. For whatever reason, Price is viewed as some sort of "favorite son" despite not doing much of anything outside of an 8-win season his first year on the job. UTEP got progressively worse under his watch yet he managed to stick around for nine (!) years. Price, however, made it clear he's not sticking around and he's there just to provide someone to talk to the press after a blowout loss. Perhaps Price can use last week's pointspread cover vs. Army as motivation; UTEP's first of the season. The Miners are currently +18.5 home underdog vs. Western Kentucky for Saturday.

"I was surprised and flattered by Bob's call and appreciate the opportunity to help this program one more time," Price said. "I am not interviewing for the future job, and I'm not going to be the future head coach. I'm going to manage the program and provide leadership for the rest of the year."
