It's a new year and that means Rutgers is bringing in a new offensive coordinator. First-year OC Drew Mehringer will mark the
similar to that of Ohio State and Auburn. Rutgers averaged a pedestrian 67 plays per game last year.
"We install several different tempos," Mehringer said. "We're trying to manage the game and get the offense as well as the team in the best chance to win. Tempo and how we can affect that on offense is a big conversation."
“Do you have to have a pure running quarterback? No you don’t,” Mehringer said. “Do you have to tweak what you do a little bit? Absolutely. … You can’t say this is what we’re doing no matter what we’ve got. That’s not a smart way to play offensively.”
