Evansville head coach Marty Simmons was disappointed at how fast his team played in a 67-54 loss to Indiana. Lack of patience and quick of shots caused the Purple Aces to get away from their game plan. Look for Evansville to
tonight at Middle Tennessee State.
"It all comes down to execution and not trying to shoot your way through (an opponents' run)," said Simmons. "A lot of times you can use your offense as a bit of your defense by grinding it out and making them guard multiple sets and multiple screens."
Simmons said the Aces were guilty of settling for too many jump shots rather than making the extra pass.
"Our kids gave a lot of effort, but that's where we've got to grow up as a basketball team and understand the situation," said Simmons. "When a team is making a run, you have to be even more sure that you are set and wide open."
